About Us

We are a well-established café located in Canberra, offering a variety of quality breakfast, brunch and lunch dishes. We pride ourselves on serving fresh, high-quality food and providing excellent service to our customers. We are currently seeking a talented and reliable Chef to join our kitchen team.

Key Responsibilities

* Prepare and cook a variety of café-style dishes, including breakfast, brunch and lunch items.

* Assist with developing and creating new menu items and seasonal specials.

* Ensure food quality, taste and presentation consistently meet the café’s standards.

* Manage day-to-day kitchen operations, including stock control, inventory and food costs.

* Maintain a clean, organised and safe kitchen environment in accordance with food safety and hygiene regulations.

* Supervise and train junior kitchen staff, ensuring consistency in food preparation and presentation.

* Work closely with café management and front-of-house staff to ensure smooth daily operations.

* Monitor portion sizes, food preparation and presentation to maintain consistency.

* Assist with ordering and work with suppliers to source fresh, high-quality ingredients.

* Minimise food waste and ensure ingredients are stored and rotated correctly.

Skills and Experience

* Minimum 2 years of experience as a Chef, preferably in a busy café or restaurant environment.

* Strong knowledge of café-style cooking, including breakfast and lunch service.

* Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen and manage multiple orders during busy periods.

* Good communication and teamwork skills.

* Ability to supervise and support other kitchen staff when required.

* Passion for food with strong attention to quality, consistency and presentation.

* Good knowledge of food safety, hygiene and kitchen procedures.

* Relevant culinary qualifications or certification are preferred.

Pay: $70,000.00 – $80,000.00 per year
