Lyell McEwin Hospital's Hospital in the Home (HITH) program is looking for an Associate Nurse Unit Manager to help shape the standard of care delivered across Adelaide's northern metro community.
What You'll Be Leading
Reporting to the Nurse Unit Manager, you will provide day-to-day clinical and operational leadership within the HITH team, supporting patients to receive acute-level care in the comfort of their own homes. Your core responsibilities will include:
Supervising and supporting nursing staff to deliver safe, evidence-based care across active HITH episodes
Contributing to rostering, workload allocation, and the smooth coordination of community-based acute services
Acting as a senior clinical resource for complex patient presentations, escalation, and care transitions
Partnering with medical, allied health, and community teams to ensure seamless patient journeys from admission through to discharge
What You Bring
Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (AHPRA)
Demonstrated experience in acute nursing, with a sound understanding of HITH or community-based care models
Proven ability to lead and support a nursing team in a clinical setting
Strong clinical assessment and decision-making skills across a broad patient cohort
Effective communication with patients, carers, and multidisciplinary colleagues
Commitment to the NALHN values of respect, integrity, and collaboration in everyday practice
To be eligible for this position, you must be Registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and who holds, or who is eligible to hold, a current practicing certificate.

In this role you will have strong interpersonal and communication skills which will enable you to successfully problem solve, resolve conflicts and negotiate, including the ability to engage in difficult conversations, whilst building and maintaining relationships. An ability to effectively manage multiple, diverse and competing priorities and demonstrated resilience within a stressful and complex environment is essential to this role.

NALHN provides a range of hospital (inpatient), outpatient, community and home-based services across multiple sites in Adelaide’s north and north-eastern suburbs, including Aboriginal health, mental health, and GP services.
Lyell McEwin Hospital – the major hospital in northern Adelaide for emergency care, complex and multi-day surgery, medicine, obstetric, paediatrics and outpatient services.
Modbury Hospital – a general hospital with emergency care, elective surgery, medicine, outpatient and sub-acute services, rehabilitation, geriatric and palliative care.
Mental Health Services – adult and older persons mental health services and statewide forensic mental health services, across hospital and community settings.
