About DRA Global

DRA covers all major mining centres with offices across Africa and the Middle East, North and South America, and Asia-Pacific

Structural Engineer - Reporting to the Regional Manager – NSW, you will be responsible for the structural design of process plants and their associated infrastructure across various projects.

The role is offered on a full-time permanent basis at our Newcastle CBD office.

Key duties

Undertake the structural design of materials handling and processing facility structures such as conveyors, bins and process buildings
Develop of cost-effective designs that are project appropriate and to the clients’ needs
Provide technical support and guidance to the drafting team whilst supervising the preparation of preliminary and detailed designs
Maintain and foster relationships with the DRA multidisciplinary team, clients and contractors
Conduct site inspections during construction, and
Regional structural inspections and reporting on brownfields structures, and developing design solution to on-site structural issues

Essential attributes

Tertiary Degree – Civil / Structural Engineering
3+ years working in an engineering detailed design environment
Strong maths and structural analysis skills
Well-developed communication skills (written and verbal)
Excellent attitude, team focus and commitment towards safety
Most importantly, an enthusiastic attitude and a willingness to learn

Advantageous attributes

CPEng/Registered Status or working towards
Proficiency in structural analysis software such as Space Gass or Strand7
Experience in mining and/or heavy industry is highly regarded; however, we welcome candidates from other sectors and will provide support to build industry-specific knowledge.
