About Awake

Awake is an independently owned fitness and wellness hub in the heart of Preston, built around community, connection and sustainable wellbeing.

With 40+ classes each week including Strength Training, Functional Training, Reformer Pilates, Mat Pilates, Yoga, Personal Training and Infrared Sauna, as well as Open Gym access from 4:30 AM–10:30 PM with state of the art equipment, we bring multiple aspects of health, fitness and wellness together under one roof.

Our mission is centred around the four pillars of health - physical, mental, emotional and energetic - which we believe are the foundation for long-term, sustainable health and wellbeing.

About the Role

We're looking for someone who genuinely enjoys people, fitness and creating a great environment to join our team as Reception / Gym Floor Staff.

You'll be an important part of the Awake experience - welcoming members, building relationships, helping potential members take the next step in their fitness journey and making sure the space feels clean, organised and inviting.

You'll work across both reception and the gym floor, with a mix of customer service, sales, administration and general facility support.

Key Responsibilities

Welcoming members and visitors and creating a warm first impression
Assisting with membership sales and helping prospective members find the right option for them
Following up leads and client enquiries via calls, emails and messages
Assisting with memberships, bookings and administration through Mindbody
Setting up the Infrared Sauna and ensuring it is clean, tidy and presentable
Keeping the gym floor clean, organised, safe and welcoming
Checking equipment and reporting any maintenance or safety issues
Supporting members and helping create a positive, friendly gym environment
Assisting with the day-to-day running of the facility and jumping in wherever needed

About You

You'll be a great fit for Awake if you are:

Comfortable working independently and taking initiative
Naturally customer-service focused with a positive attitude
Someone who enjoys building genuine relationships with members and clients

Previous experience in gym, reception or customer service is ideal.

Experience with Mindbody is also a plus, but not essential - we'll show you the ropes.

If you're qualified to coach group Strength or Functional Training classes, we'd also love to hear from you. There may be opportunities to get involved with our class offering alongside the reception and gym floor role.

The Role

This is a flexible casual role, ideal for someone looking to work within the fitness and wellness industry.

3–4 hour staffed shifts
1–3 shifts per week
Afternoon shifts: 3:30 PM–6:30 PM, Monday–Thursday
Saturday shifts: 9:30 AM–1:00 PM
One weekly afternoon shift is ongoing and additional casual shifts may be available across other afternoons and Saturdays
Based at Awake Gym + Wellness, Preston
