About the business - Stairform Pty Ltd

Stairform specialises in designing and manufacturing customised staircases, handrails, and landings for the construction industry.

About the Role

We are currently seeking full-time Welders/Metal Fabricators to join our team at our Dandenong South, VIC warehouse.

The successful candidates will work closely with the factory supervisor, demonstrating reliability, teamwork, and a strong sense of responsibility and pride in their work.

Skills and Experience

Duties and responsibilities:

Read blueprints and drawings and take or read measurements to plan layout and procedures.
Determine the appropriate welding equipment or method based on requirements.
Set up components for welding according to specifications (e.g., cut material with powered saws to match measurements)
Operate angle grinders to prepare the parts that must be welded.
Align components using calipers, rulers etc. and clamp pieces.
Weld components using manual or semi-automatic welding equipment in various positions (vertical, horizontal, or overhead)
Shaping and bending metal sections and pipes using hand and machine tools, and by heating and hammering
Joining metal sections using various welding techniques, bolting, and riveting
Examining welds for width of bead, penetration, and precision
Cleaning and smoothing welds by filing, chiseling, and grinding.
Test and inspect welded surfaces and structure to discover flaws.
Maintain equipment in a condition that does not compromise safety.

Working Hours: 38 hours per week, Monday to Friday - 7 am to 3 pm

Skills and Experience

Minimum 3 years’ experience as a Metal Fabricator/Welder
Experience in steel preparation and processing
Certificate III in Engineering – Fabrication Trade (or equivalent)
Strong MIG welding and fabrication skills
Proficiency with hand tools and machinery (cutting, shaping, bending, joining, grinding)

Key Attributes

Ability to follow instructions and work autonomously
Strong teamwork skills
High attention to detail
Good communication skills
Physically fit and able to perform manual tasks, including lifting and standing for extended periods

Additional Requirements

Maintain tools and equipment to a professional standard
Keep work areas clean and organised
Identify and report potential hazards to ensure a safe work environment
