About the role:

The Payroll Queue Lead is responsible for a team who contributes to customer centric payroll service delivery, remuneration and benefits (including salary packaging and novated leasing) to departmental employees. Responsibilities include overseeing daily operations and resource allocation through monitoring, assigning, answering, and tracking all aspects of the service queue, including phone contact made via the department Customer Care Line on 1300 344 727.
Accountable to the Manager, Payroll Services, this role is responsible for the quality of all staff inputs applied to these services to meet the agreed service requirements with suppliers and key clients.

The Payroll Queue Lead will ensure all documentation, including Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), training materials and advice to customers in relation to the service are regularly updated according to their own monitoring and reporting of service levels, staff and customer feedback.
In addition, they will lead a team with specialist expertise and/or skills in payroll services, having responsibility for all aspects associated with the management of people including performance management and capability development, and contribute to the leadership of the wider branch through their involvement in cross branch knowledge sharing collaboration and people development activities.

All staff within the branch work flexibly to ensure the effective delivery of the various services required under the Shared Services Agreement. This includes engaging with customers through multiple channels, such as OurService, email, Microsoft Teams, in-person interactions, and telephone lines.
The work is fast paced and would suit an individual who is able to lead a team in achieving results whilst responding to a rapidly changing environment.

About you:

Resolves operational service delivery problems consistent with program objectives
Advice and analysis contributes to policy formulation
Prepares reports, briefs and correspondence on complex issues that impact at program or organisational level
Conveys specialist concepts and policies to clients, staff and stakeholders
Researches and applies advanced theoretical knowledge in a specialised field to operational problem solving

Qualifications/Specialist Expertise:

A tertiary qualification in fields related to payroll, finance, project management or business would be desirable.

Demonstrated experience and ability in the management of a broad range of payroll and human resource functions. Sound knowledge and understanding of
relevant legislation, awards and agreements and a demonstrated ability to interpret and communicate legislated terms and conditions of employment. Competence in the understanding and use of Systems, Applications and Products (SAP), Kronos, Human Capital Management Systems and Nakisa.
