Design & Engineering
CPP has the largest in-house design and engineering team of any contractor in Australia, with over 170 specialists across Electrical Primary and Secondary, Civil, Structural, and SCADA disciplines. We provide end-to-end engineering solutions for high-voltage infrastructure, including nationally significant transmission projects, HV substations, wind farms and battery storage systems that drive Australia’s renewable energy transition.

The Opportunity
CPP continues to secure some of Australia's largest renewable energy and utility infrastructure projects, creating an exciting opportunity for a Principal Engineer – Structural to join our growing engineering team.
In this role, you'll be recognised as a technical expert, taking ownership of structural engineering outcomes across complex high-voltage infrastructure projects. Working closely with engineers, designers, project teams and clients, you'll develop practical, high-quality structural solutions for substations, transmission infrastructure and power-related structures, from concept and tender through to detailed design and construction. You'll also provide technical direction on complex engineering challenges, and contribute to the continual improvement of our engineering standards and systems.
Beyond your technical expertise, you'll play a key role in developing our people. As a trusted mentor, you'll support and coach engineers at all stages of their careers, while building strong client relationships and contributing to the continued growth of CPP's structural engineering capability.
Skills and Experiences:
About You
To be successful in this role, you will possess:
Tertiary qualifications in Structural Engineering
Minimum of 10+ years experience in a similar Principal Structural Engineer position ideally within renewables or utilities
Strong working knowledge and understanding of Australian guidelines and standards
Outstanding communication skills, with the ability to work with a variety of stakeholders and mentor graduates and engineers
Proficient in SPACE GASS, PLS-CADD/PLS POLE and other structural tools
Demonstrated recent experience working within utilities or renewable energy design projects
