“BE THE CATALYST THAT DRIVES REAL CHANGE FOR OUR PLANET.”
Samsara Eco has one clear mission: to repair our planet through infinite plastic recycling. Yes, it’s a mighty mission but it’s something every single one of us here at Samsara Eco is determined to achieve. And it’s what motivates us to dedicate our time and energy to every single day.
Our technology is like our team. One of a kind. And we know that, so while we are creating technology to repair our planet, we’re also building a great place to grow careers. A place where everyone can do the best work of their life, making meaningful impact on our planet and ourselves.
WHO WE ARE...
We’re a biotech innovator with a mission that actually matters. We’re taking the 10 billion tonnes of plastics and textiles wasting away in landfill and recycling it – infinitely – to create a truly circular loop for packaging, clothing, airbags, and everything in between.
It means the brands people love can keep making the products they rely on, without the environmental cost. By using what we already have, we can break the world’s dependence on fossil fuels and leave a liveable planet for the generations coming after us.
This isn’t just a job. This is the work that matters most right now.

Role Purpose
As Data Engineer, you will join the Data Platform team to support the development of Samsara’s Industrial AI Platform, collaborating with science, engineering, and computation teams across experiments, process modelling, and production data. You will develop pipelines to ensure all data sources are flowing into the Data Platform, connecting experiment platforms, analytics instruments, computation outputs, production line data, and other priority sources into reliable, observable and scalable ingestion workflows.
Responsibilities
Data Ingestion and Pipelines
- Build and maintain ingestion pipelines from ELN, SharePoint, Laboratory Instruments, physics-simulations, production line, and process engineering sources into the Data Platform.
- Support live ingestion of production lines and process data, including data historian integration.
- Ensure ingestion processes preserve source context, timestamps, identifiers and provenance.
- Partner with instrument owners and analytics teams to connect key laboratory instruments to the data platform.
- Support lab uplift and automation efforts, including barcode, inventory tracking, and calibration of workflow data capture.
Reliability and Collaboration
- Design pipelines that are observable, testable, and easy to maintain as source systems evolve.
- Collaborate Data Team to ensure raw data can be transformed into trusted production-layer datasets.
- Align ingestion patterns with Data Platform infrastructure, orchestration, access, and storage requirements.
- Document source system behavior, assumptions, known limitations, and open issues for future platform users.
Skills and Competencies
Essential
- Experience building and maintaining data pipelines across structured, semi-structured and time-series data sources.
- Strong Python and SQL skills, with practical experience in modern data engineering patterns.
- Experience with Airflow, Prefect, or Dagster is desirable.
- Experience ingesting data into cloud-based lake or lake-house environments.
- Strong understanding of data quality, observability, lineage and pipeline reliability.
- Ability to work with technical and non-technical stakeholders to understand source systems and operational constraints.
Highly Valued
- Experience with Databricks/Snowflake, AWS, Apache Iceberg and lake-house architecture.
- Experience connecting laboratory instruments, ELN/LIMS systems, manufacturing systems or process simulation tools.
- Exposure to HPLC, DSF, liquid handlers, Aspen, data historians, barcode systems or inventory tracking workflows.
- Background in biotech, bioprocessing, chemical engineering, manufacturing, climate tech or a similarly complex data environment.
Culture and Values Alignment
- Demonstrates strong alignment with Samsara Eco's mission and values: this work is for the planet, not just for the platform.
- Approaches problems with intellectual rigour and low ego: able to work in detail and take on any task without hesitation.
- Builds relationships across scientific, engineering, and commercial teams with warmth and credibility.
- Moves with purpose: understand the urgency of the mission and acts accordingly.
WHY WORK WITH US...
- Real Impact - Your work directly helps repair the planet. This isn't a desk job; it's a mission.
- Great People - Work alongside scientists, engineers, and innovators who are genuinely passionate about what they do.
- Own Your Work - Flat structure, real autonomy. We trust you to lead and make decisions.
- Work-Life Balance - Flexible arrangements, competitive pay, and benefits that actually support your life outside work.
- Bold Culture - We back big ideas, challenge the norm, and move fast. If you want to shape something meaningful, this is the place.
