The Opportunity
We're looking for an Asset Planning Engineer to join our Asset Management team in Jandakot.
Reporting to the Senior Asset Planning Engineer, you'll help support the long-term performance, reliability and growth of our gas distribution network. Working across operational and project teams, you'll use technical analysis and data-driven insights to inform investment decisions, optimise asset performance and support strategic planning.

What You'll Be Doing
As an Asset Planning Engineer, you'll:
- Develop and deliver strategic and tactical asset management plans that optimise the long-term performance support future growth.
- Review and optimise asset lifecycle strategies using technical analysis and data-driven insights to improve network performance and supply security.
- Prepare business cases and investment proposals to support asset initiatives, regulatory requirements and future network needs.
- Partner with Business Development and project delivery teams to assess network growth opportunities and develop scopes for asset renewal and replacement programs.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of engineering standards, procedures, compliance requirements and asset management practices.
- Represent Asset Services in project reviews, risk assessments and operational planning activities, identifying emerging risks, trends and opportunities across the network.
- Analyse network flow and pressure performance to optimise asset utilisation, maintain system reliability during peak demand conditions and develop strategic contingency plans that strengthen gas supply security and network resilience.

Technical Skills & Experience
- Tertiary qualification in Engineering (Chemical Engineering highly regarded) with 5+ years' experience in utilities, infrastructure, energy, resources or other asset-intensive industries.
- Experience in asset management, asset planning or network-related engineering environments, with an understanding of asset lifecycle and performance management principles.
- Knowledge of hydraulic modelling and experience using modelling and GIS tools such as Synergi or similar platforms.
- Strong analytical, reporting and problem-solving skills, with the ability to develop business cases, engineering recommendations and data-driven insights using tools such as Excel and Power BI.
