The Primary Care and Community Health Unit consists of 9 centres that provide a range of services for children, young people and their families, adults, older people and their carers. Our services range from health promotion, prevention and early detection through to assessment, treatment and continuing care. Our staff work in partnership with schools, GPs, hospitals, non-government agencies and other organisations to provide care across our centres, in people’s homes, other community venues as well as virtual care (telehealth).

In this role, you will provide specialist therapeutic and case management services to Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal adults and children who have experienced sexual assault, as well as support for their non-offending family members. Working within a trauma-informed framework, you will help promote safety, healing and recovery.
You will join a highly skilled and supportive sexual assault counselling team that provides crisis responses, ongoing counselling, community education and prevention initiatives. Our work is strengths-based, family-focused and culturally responsive, recognising the strengths and resilience of Aboriginal children, families and communities.
As the Aboriginal Sexual Assault Counsellor, you will build trusted relationships with Aboriginal clients, communities and partner organisations, while providing cultural consultation and guidance to non-Aboriginal clinicians to strengthen culturally safe service delivery.
