As our organisation continues to grow, we are seeking an experienced and practical ICT Systems Administrator to support, maintain and improve our information and communication technology environment.
This role will suit someone who enjoys solving problems, supporting users and taking ownership of ICT systems rather than simply responding to technical issues as they arise.
About the Role
The ICT Systems Administrator will be responsible for the effective operation, maintenance, security and continuous improvement of Vision and Goals' ICT systems.
You will provide day-to-day technical support while also helping the organisation strengthen its systems, cybersecurity, access controls, data management and technology processes.
The role requires someone who can work independently, communicate clearly with people who have different levels of technical knowledge, identify risks and find practical solutions.
Key ResponsibilitiesSystems Administration
- Administer and maintain the organisation's computers, devices, software, user accounts and ICT systems.
- Configure, maintain and troubleshoot desktop, laptop and mobile devices.
- Manage user accounts, permissions and access to organisational systems.
- Set up ICT access and equipment for new employees and manage access changes when workers change roles or leave the organisation.
- Install, configure, update and maintain operating systems and business applications.
- Monitor system performance, reliability and availability.
- Troubleshoot hardware, software, network and system issues.
- Maintain accurate ICT asset and equipment records.
Microsoft 365 and Cloud Systems
- Administer Microsoft 365 services, including user accounts, licences and permissions.
- Support Microsoft Outlook, Teams, OneDrive, SharePoint and related Microsoft services.
- Manage user access, security settings and multi-factor authentication.
- Support cloud-based applications used across the organisation.
- Assist with the integration of business systems where required.
Network and Infrastructure Support
- Maintain and troubleshoot network connectivity, Wi-Fi, internet and related infrastructure.
- Configure and maintain network devices and ICT equipment where required.
- Identify network performance or connectivity problems and implement appropriate solutions.
- Liaise with internet, telecommunications, software and ICT service providers when required.
Cybersecurity and Information Protection
- Help maintain a secure ICT environment and protect organisational and client information.
- Monitor ICT systems for security risks, unusual activity and vulnerabilities.
- Maintain appropriate access controls and user permissions.
- Support multi-factor authentication, password security and other cybersecurity controls.
- Ensure software, devices and systems receive appropriate security updates and patches.
- Assist with cybersecurity awareness and good ICT security practices across the organisation.
- Respond appropriately to suspected cybersecurity incidents and escalate significant risks.
- Support secure handling of confidential and sensitive information.
Data, Backup and Business Continuity
- Monitor and maintain appropriate data backup arrangements.
- Assist with recovery of data following system failures or accidental loss.
- Periodically test backup and recovery processes.
- Support ICT disaster recovery and business continuity arrangements.
- Identify ICT risks that could interrupt essential business operations and recommend improvements.
Technical Support
- Provide responsive ICT support to employees and management.
- Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, account, email, connectivity and system problems.
- Explain technical issues in clear, practical language.
- Prioritise ICT support requests according to urgency and operational impact.
- Escalate complex issues to external vendors or specialist providers where appropriate.
- Maintain records of significant ICT issues and resolutions.
ICT Governance and Continuous Improvement
- Maintain appropriate ICT documentation, procedures and system records.
- Assist with the development and review of ICT policies and procedures.
- Maintain records of system configurations, licences, equipment and user access.
- Identify outdated, inefficient or insecure technology and recommend improvements.
- Assist management to evaluate new technology and software.
- Support implementation and migration of new ICT systems.
- Work with external ICT providers and software vendors where required.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of the organisation's technology environment.
About You
We are looking for someone who is technically capable but also approachable, organised and able to work with people.
You should be comfortable taking responsibility for problems, investigating their cause and following them through to resolution.
You will ideally have:
- Qualifications in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, Cybersecurity or a related discipline, or equivalent demonstrated industry experience.
- Previous experience in ICT systems administration, IT support, network administration or a similar role.
- Experience supporting Windows-based environments.
- Experience administering Microsoft 365.
- Knowledge of user account administration, permissions and access management.
- Understanding of computer networks, Wi-Fi, internet connectivity and common network troubleshooting.
- Knowledge of cybersecurity principles, including multi-factor authentication, endpoint security, patching and access controls.
- Experience troubleshooting hardware, software and operating system issues.
- Understanding of data backup, recovery and business continuity practices.
- Ability to investigate technical problems independently and develop practical solutions.
- Good organisational and documentation skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to explain technical information to non-technical users.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and work with minimal supervision.
Desirable Experience
The following would be an advantage but are not essential:
- Microsoft certifications or other recognised ICT qualifications.
- Experience with Microsoft Entra ID/Azure environments.
- Experience with SharePoint administration.
- Experience with mobile device management and endpoint security.
- Knowledge of firewalls, VPNs and network security.
- Experience working with cloud-based business applications.
- Experience managing ICT assets and software licences.
- Experience supporting organisations that handle confidential or sensitive client information.
- Experience within the disability, health, community services or NDIS sector.
