What you’ll do:
As a Senior Process Safety Engineer, you'll provide expert process safety engineering support for our offshore operated assets, driving effective risk management, supporting Safety Case development, and fostering a strong process safety culture to ensure safe and reliable operations. This role is ideally suited to someone with previous offshore oil and gas or FPSO experience who can confidently apply their expertise in a complex operational environment.
Key accountabilities include:
- Provide process safety engineering expertise to support safe and reliable offshore operations.

Lead and support the development, stewardship and technical review of Safety Cases.

Deliver technical safety assessments and process safety support to operational and project activities.

Ensure performance standards are developed, maintained and effectively assured.

Proactively identify and manage process safety risks to protect people, assets and the environment.

Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to deliver effective process safety outcomes.

Drive continuous improvement, operational efficiencies and value creation within the process safety function.
Promote compliance with the Santos Management System, company standards and a strong process safety culture.

What you’ll bring:
You'll be a collaborative and influential process safety engineering professional who thrives in complex operational environments. With a proactive approach to risk management and continuous improvement, you'll build strong stakeholder relationships, provide trusted technical advice, and champion a strong process safety culture across offshore and onshore assets, as well as:

Senior operations or engineering experience within the oil and gas industry.

Previous experience supporting Offshore/FPSO operations and onshore Major Hazard Facilities.

Demonstrated experience providing process safety support to operations and projects within the oil and gas sector.

Proven experience leading Process Hazard Assessments, including HAZID, HAZOP and LOPA studies.

Strong understanding of offshore regulatory frameworks, including Safety Case audits and the Offshore Petroleum and Greenhouse Gas Storage (Safety) Regulations 2024.

Significant experience applying safety assessments, including Bowtie methodology, safety studies and performance standard assurance.

Strong knowledge of approved codes of practice and process safety management principles.

Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, with Chartered Engineer status (or equivalent) and/or RPEQ accreditation.

Experience with tools such as CMMS, BowTieXP and PHAST, along with Functional Safety Engineering qualifications, HAZID/HAZOP facilitation experience, or exposure to decommissioning and brownfield modifications would be highly regarded.
