ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

We are seeking a Commercial Manager to join our Legal & Commercial team in Sydney.

The primary purpose of the Commercial Manager role is to provide commercial support and contractual leadership to a growing portfolio of complex and diverse projects across our business streams.

The successful individual for this role will demonstrate strong leadership, organisational, and time management skills. They will be a strong communicator and have the ability to maintain positive and collaborative working relationships.

Key responsibilities will include:

Reviewing key risks and negotiating contractual terms with clients and subcontractors;
Supporting tender and project teams on major projects with best practice contract management, commercial strategy, compliance with legal and regulatory requirements;
Proactively identifying opportunities for efficiency and innovation;
Developing strategies to mitigate and resolve delays, claims and disputes;
Undertaking deep dives into projects to record lessons learnt and identify improvements;
Developing and maintaining commercial policies and procedures;
Managing a small team of contract managers and contract administrators within the region.

ABOUT YOU

We are looking for an ambitious and hands-on Commercial Manager who is looking to be challenged and step into a growing and successful team.

To be successful in this position, you will have:

Bachelor’s degree in Law or Engineering, Environmental Science, Business or Commerce.
Master’s degree in Construction Law or other equivalent relevant legal studies (if no law degree).
7+ years experience in a Contracts Manager or Commercial Manager role in a construction/projects environment.
Strong planning and organisational skills.
Strong communication and mitigation skills.
A professional demeanour and strong relationship-building skills.
