Full Job Description

JOB SUMMARY:

We run Australia's most unique off-grid glamping experience — transparent bubble tents perched over Capertee Valley, the world's second-largest canyon — and we're looking for a capable, sales-minded PR person to help us get in front of the right journalists, creators, and outlets.

This is not a repetitive press-release-and-pray role. One day you might be pitching a lifestyle editor a killer hook, another day chasing a same-day media enquiry, another day identifying the next wide-reach publication to land on our list. If you enjoy the hustle of earned media, know how to create a newsworthy moment instead of begging for coverage, and can also spot a commercial opportunity when you see one, you'll probably love this role.

THE ROLE:

*Remote/home based
*Work for an Australian business
*Initially up to 20 hours per week across Monday–Friday (but definite room to grow with the role)
*Daily hours worked within approximately 9:30am–4:00pm Sydney time bandwidth
*Consistent ongoing work for the right person

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING PRIMARILY:

*Outreach — Building and working a target list of wide-reaching publications and TV spots, plus publications that have covered us before, to secure new coverage
*Inbound — Managing incoming media interest, responding to journalist and creator enquiries, and keeping our media kit, press releases, and high-res/low-res photography always up to date and ready to send
*Targeted — Identifying and pitching angles to specific audience segments with tailored story hooks for each
*Making it easy for journalists and creators to say yes — simple hooks, fast access, and VIP stay offers for high-leverage outlets
*Creating newsworthy moments rather than waiting on generic press releases to land

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

(We don't expect perfection across everything below, but strong capability in several areas is important.)

Essential:

*Proven PR or media outreach experience, ideally in travel, lifestyle, hospitality, or a similarly visual/story-driven industry
*A sales mindset — comfortable pitching, following up, and closing on coverage or partnerships
*Excellent written communication and pitch-crafting skills
*Fast responsiveness; able to turn around inbound media enquiries within a 2-hour window
*Strong organisational skills — able to maintain outlet lists, media kits, and a rolling pipeline of story angles
*Comfortable using AI tools like ChatGPT or Claude to improve efficiency
*Ability to work independently and take initiative without close supervision

Advantageous but not essential:

*Existing relationships with journalists, editors, or creators in travel/lifestyle media
*Experience with affiliate or voucher-based partnership programs
*Basic photo/video briefing or content coordination experience
*Familiarity with PR strategy resources such as "Free PR" or "Trust Me, I'm Lying"
