We’re excited to be growing our engineering capability in Perth with the opening of our first office in Western Australia. This is a significant milestone in our growth, creating new opportunities for engineers in WA to be part of our national team while contributing to the next chapter of CPP’s success. Our Perth office is an important hub in our network, and we’re looking for talented engineers to play a key role in growing this new location from the ground up.

Design & Engineering

CPP has the largest in-house design and engineering team of any contractor in Australia, with over 190 specialists across Electrical Primary and Secondary, Civil, Structural, and SCADA disciplines. We provide end-to-end engineering solutions for high-voltage infrastructure, including nationally significant transmission projects, HV substations, wind farms and battery storage systems that drive Australia’s renewable energy transition.

Our engineers work closely with construction and operations teams, ensuring designs are practical, constructible, and continually refined through real-world feedback. With a commitment to innovation and excellence, we deliver solutions that support a stable, reliable, and sustainable energy future.

The Opportunity

As part of CPP's growth, we're expanding our operations and engineering capability into Perth and WA. This is a greenfield leadership role where you will build the WA Secondary Design team and function from the ground up, by shaping culture, setting standards and establishing the capability required to support a growing portfolio of work in the region.

Step into a career-defining role as Manager - Secondary Design at CPP Perth, where you will play a key role in delivering high-voltage substation projects that support the growth of Australia’s renewable energy and utility sectors.

We are seeking an experienced engineer to build and lead CPP’s newly created Perth Secondary Engineering and Design team. As Manager - Secondary Design, you will oversee the primary design of high-voltage substations and associated infrastructure, reporting to the Engineering Manager. You will lead and grow a team of engineers and drafters, fostering a collaborative and high-performance environment to deliver innovative, high-quality solutions.

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in a similar senior engineering role, a deep understanding of primary design principles, and strong leadership capabilities.

This is a rare and exciting opportunity to join the Engineering leadership team at an industry-leading organisation. If you have extensive experience with substation design and/or utility grid connections, we would love to hear from you.

Skills and Experiences:
About You

To be successful in this role, you will possess:

Tertiary qualifications in Electrical Engineering, Power Engineering, or equivalent
Chartered status and BLA (or the ability to achieve upon commencement)
10+ years’ experience at a senior level, including substation design and/or utility grid connections
Proven experience in primary design and engineering, with knowledge of civil, structural, and overhead line design
Excellent leadership skills, with a track record of building and leading high-performing, collaborative teams
Strong understanding of industry standards and client requirements
Experience with renewable grid connection projects in Australia
Based in Perth or willing to relocate (relocation assistance available)
