We are seeking a
Senior Electrical Engineer to join our Brisbane team who is ready to lead the design, development, and execution of electrical systems for oil & gas and energy projects. Working within multidisciplinary EPCM teams, you will provide technical leadership, oversee project deliverables, support procurement and construction activities, and ensure safe, reliable, and code-compliant electrical designs throughout all phases of project execution.

What You’ll Do
As a
Senior Electrical Engineer, you will be responsible for delivering safe, reliable, and code-compliant electrical systems. Your role will include:
Electrical Engineering & Technical Leadership
- Lead the design and development of electrical systems for oil & gas facilities, pipelines, compressor stations, and processing facilities
- Prepare and review key engineering deliverables, including:
o
o Area classification drawings and reports
o Single line diagrams
o Electrical load lists
o Wiring diagrams and schematics
o Equipment specifications and data sheets
o Perform and review electrical system studies using ETAP, SKM, or equivalent software, including:
o Short circuit analysis
o Load flow analysis
o Protection coordination studies
o Motor starting studies
o Harmonic analysis
o Develop electrical design criteria and provide input into design basis memorandums, project execution plans, and scope documents
o Review and approve vendor and subcontractor electrical designs and technical documentation
Coordination & Team Collaboration
- Work closely with process, piping, mechanical, civil/structural, and instrumentation disciplines to ensure integrated project delivery
Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior and intermediate electrical engineers and designers
Participate in client meetings, design reviews, HAZOPs, model reviews, and multidisciplinary coordination sessions
Communicate effectively with internal teams, clients, vendors, and stakeholders
Project Execution & Delivery
- Lead electrical engineering deliverables in accordance with project scope, schedule, budget, and quality requirements
- Prepare engineering man-hour estimates and support project planning and scheduling activities
- Support procurement activities including MRQ/MRP development, technical bid evaluations, vendor selection recommendations, and drawing reviews
- Review and verify discipline deliverables to ensure design consistency and compliance
- Lead the development of material take-offs (MTOs) and labor estimates
Construction & Field Support
- Provide engineering support during construction and commissioning phases
- Respond to RFIs, technical queries, and field issues
- Participate in site visits, inspections, and field engineering activities as required
- Ensure designs are practical, safe, and constructible
Safety, Quality & Compliance
- Follow engineering quality processes and lead verification and checking activities
- Ensure compliance with applicable Australian and international standards, client specifications, and regulatory requirements
- Promote safe design principles and support environmental, safety, and quality objectives throughout project execution
About You
You are an experienced electrical engineer who enjoys leading technical scopes, mentoring others, and delivering practical engineering solutions within multidisciplinary EPCM environments. You bring:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (required)
- Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) status with Engineers Australia, or eligibility to obtain registration (preferred)
- 8–12 years of electrical engineering experience within oil & gas, energy, or industrial projects
- EPCM or consulting experience preferred
- Strong communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver high-quality engineering outcomes
Technical Foundation
- High, medium, and low voltage power distribution system design
- Protective relaying and electrical protection systems
- Motor control centres (MCCs) and motor control systems
- Area classification and hazardous area design principles
- Electrical equipment sizing and specification development
- PLC systems and electrical/instrumentation interfaces
- Experience with facilities projects, pipelines, compressor stations, gas processing facilities, and related infrastructure
Software Proficiency
- ETAP, SKM, or equivalent electrical system analysis software
- AutoCAD and related electrical design tools
- Working knowledge of Plant 3D and model review platforms such as Navisworks is considered an asset
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel and MS Office applications
Technical Knowledge
- Strong understanding of Australian and international electrical standards and codes, including AS/NZS, IEC, IEEE, and API standards where applicable
- Ability to coordinate effectively across multiple engineering disciplines
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving capabilities
