Westpac Institutional Bank Technology supports the Financial Markets business through the delivery, operation, and ongoing enhancement of critical trading, risk, post-trade, regulatory, and data platforms. The Murex platform is a core Financial Markets capability supporting Front-to-Back trade processing, operational control, risk management, financial reporting, and regulatory outcomes across institutional markets products .
What’s the Role:
Provide senior Murex Back Office specialist capability to support Financial Markets delivery, controls, and production stability. The role translates business and operational requirements into practical Murex outcomes across settlements, confirmations, accounting, lifecycle events, workflows, and downstream integrations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the delivery of Murex Back Office initiatives across analysis, configuration, testing, implementation and production support activities.
- Translate business, operational, risk and regulatory requirements into clear functional solutions, documentation and system enhancements.
- Provide expertise across post-trade processes including confirmations, settlements, payments, accounting, lifecycle events and workflow management.
- Investigate and resolve production issues, trade exceptions, reconciliation breaks, integration defects and operational incidents.
- Partner with stakeholders across Front Office, Operations, Finance, Risk, Compliance and Technology to deliver business-critical outcomes.
- Contribute to continuous improvement through automation, knowledge sharing, peer review and the enhancement of Murex platform capabilities.
What do I need?
- Strong experience delivering Murex Back Office solutions within Financial Markets environments, supporting trade processing, settlements, confirmations and accounting functions.
- Solid understanding of Front-to-Back trade flows, STP processes, static data management, controls and downstream system integrations.
- Proven experience supporting a range of institutional markets products, with strong analytical capabilities across trade breaks, production issues and workflow exceptions.
- Ability to create high-quality requirements, solution documentation, process flows, test plans, implementation artefacts and support materials.
- Technical exposure to SQL, data analysis, automation, MxML Exchange, batch processing, monitoring tools and workflow management is highly regarded.
Strong stakeholder engagement and problem-solving skills, with a focus on risk management, regulatory compliance, production stability and continuous improvement.
