Senior Mechanical Engineer
We are looking for an experienced mechanical engineer to guide a team delivering innovative, safe and commercially effective engineering solutions to support our composite fibre technologies manufacturing operations, capital projects and future business growth.
You will lead the design, procurement and installation of mechanical equipment and manufacturing systems, ensuring projects are delivered efficiently and safely. This role will also see you provide mentoring to developing engineers, fostering a high-performing and collaborative team culture.
Key Responsibilities

Plan, allocate and prioritise engineering resources to support production, maintenance and business objectives

Lead the design, development and implementation of mechanical equipment, manufacturing systems and production improvements

Review and approve engineering designs, drawings, calculations and technical documentation to ensure compliance with relevant standards and business requirements

Provide engineering support to Operations and Maintenance teams to improve equipment reliability, safety and manufacturing performance

Drive continuous improvement initiatives to improve productivity, quality, reliability and operational efficiency

Develop engineering standards, documentation and best practices for the Production Engineering team

Provide engineering support to the Capital Projects team through concept development, design reviews, equipment specification, supplier engagement, installation support and commissioning activities

Work collaboratively with the R&D team to support the transition of new products and manufacturing processes into production

Liaise with equipment suppliers, consultants and contractors to ensure engineering outcomes meet technical, safety and operational requirements
What you’ll bring
To be successful in this role you will need:

Bachelor of Engineer with mechanical/mechatronics major or similar

Strong mechanical engineering and problem-solving skills from your experience in a similar engineering role (5 – 7 years ideally)

Demonstrated experience leading, mentoring and developing an engineering team

Advanced proficiency in SolidWorks 3D CAD, including mechanical design, assemblies and engineering documentation

Experience in the design, development and implementation of manufacturing equipment and production systems

Experience working within a manufacturing or industrial environment

Demonstrated experience supporting capital projects through engineering design, equipment specification and commissioning

Sound understanding of Australian Standards, machinery safety and engineering best practice

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Ability to build effective working relationships across Operations, Maintenance, R&D and Capital Projects

Experience designing, implementing or supporting automated manufacturing systems (desirable)

Composite materials or composite manufacturing experience (desirable)
