Plan International Australia | Melbourne | Hybrid | Permanent, Full-Time | SCHADS Level 4
We are the world’s leading organisation dedicated to girls’ equality.
At Plan International Australia, we believe that when we invest in girls, everything changes – their families, communities and entire nations rise. We tackle the root causes of inequality, shift money, power and influence toward girls and the local organisations closest to them, and mobilise evidence, resources and investment to create change at scale.
We are evolving. Our new strategy, Girls Rise, positions us as a bridge builder – connecting resources to impact so locally-led organisations can drive change for girls. We’re investing in a fundraising pipeline, thought leadership, climate finance, and AI and automation. We’re becoming leaner, smarter and more focused. And every role plays a part.
This is where you come in.
The Finance Operations Manager keeps the day-to-day financial engine of our organisation running – smoothly, accurately and efficiently. You’ll deliver the transactional finance work that underpins everything else: supplier payments, income processing, reconciliations, payroll oversight and federation reporting. And you’ll progressively improve how this work is done through automation and smart outsourcing.
Reliable, timely, accurate finance operations free the wider organisation to focus on impact. Your work directly supports the foundations of our strategic flywheel – because none of it turns without a solid financial base.
This role sits within the Business Performance & Optimisation portfolio, reporting to the Financial Controller and Transformation Lead , and works as a key enterprise enabler across the entire organisation.
Accounts Payable & Supplier Management
- Manage supplier onboarding, invoice processing, payments, staff reimbursements and corporate card administration — ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Maintain supplier records and compliance requirements, including procurement classifications and anti-terrorism screening.
Reconciliations & General Ledger
- Deliver accurate balance sheet reconciliations and ensure the general ledger is reliable for month-end reporting and decision-making.
- Reconcile fundraising income between CRM and NetSuite each month, working closely with the Fundraising team.
Payroll Oversight
- Oversee the outsourced payroll provider, ensuring payroll is processed accurately and on time, with issues resolved promptly.
Federation Reporting & Remittances
- Prepare and deliver accurate monthly remittances and reporting to the Plan International Global Hub, including intercompany reconciliation.
Compliance
- Ensure regulatory and statutory obligations are met — GST, anti-terrorism screening and DFAT accreditation requirements.
- Apply ethical and inclusive standards to all supplier and payment practices.
Automation & Continuous Improvement
- Identify and implement automation and outsourcing opportunities, progressively reducing manual work and freeing capacity across the organisation.
- Collaborate with our Technology, Data & AI function on system integration and smarter ways of working.
This role is deeply connected across teams and beyond. You’ll be the primary operational finance contact for suppliers, banks and external partners, and you’ll work closely with:
- Fundraising – on income reconciliation
- Technology, Data & AI – on automation opportunities
- Organisational Development & Culture – on payroll and evolving outsourced services
- Plan International Global Hub – on remittances and reporting
- Finance Business Partner and Financial Controller – delivering clean, reliable handoffs
We practise feminist leadership at Plan International Australia. That means you’ll share power and decision-making, seek out the strengths of colleagues, and hold clear accountability for your areas of responsibility. You’ll work beyond traditional team boundaries, embracing collaboration and coaching over directing. You’ll be empowered to make decisions within your remit – consulting those with a stake and escalating when decisions are high-risk or hard to reverse.
We also expect openness to using AI and new technology responsibly and ethically, helping us work smarter and deliver greater impact for girls.

Plan International believes that in a world where children and program participants face so many threats of harm, it is our duty to ensure that we do everything we can to keep children and program participants safe.
