About the Role:
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Executive Manager Operations and Growth is a key member of Barkuma’s Executive Team, responsible for leading a diverse operational portfolio and driving the organisation’s commercial growth strategy, underpinning its long-term financial and strategic sustainability.
This role provides executive leadership across Barkuma’s services, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, person-centred programs, while strengthening operational performance and organisational capability. In partnership with the CEO and Executive Team, you will lead initiatives to grow and enhance Barkuma’s disability services, build strategic partnerships, expand commercial opportunities and deliver on strategic priorities. These priorities include our enterprise initiatives, accommodation and respite, specialist supports, school transition programs and the creation of meaningful employment opportunities for people with disability.
Key Responsibilities:

Lead a diverse operational portfolio, ensuring high-quality, person-centred services that deliver outstanding outcomes for people with disability.

Drive operational excellence through innovation, continuous improvement and strong organisational performance.

Develop and implement initiatives in line with the Strategic Plan that support sustainable growth, financial performance and long-term organisational success.

Identify and pursue new business opportunities, strategic partnerships, funding opportunities and commercial initiatives.

Strengthen Barkuma’s disability social enterprise capability and create pathways for increased employment participation.

Build a high-performing operations leadership team while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, inclusion and continuous improvement.

Provide strategic advice to the CEO, Executive Team and Board to support informed decision-making and organisational direction.
About You:
You are an experienced leader who brings commercial acumen together with a genuine commitment to improving outcomes for people and communities.
You will bring:

Significant executive or senior leadership experience within commercial operations management.
-
Demonstrated success leading operational performance, organisational transformation and strategic growth initiatives.

Experience developing new business opportunities, partnerships and diversified revenue streams.
-
Demonstrated and successful leadership experience within human-centred services, disability, community, employment services or not-for-profit environments, with a strong commitment to person-centred practice.

Strong commercial and financial management capability, with the ability to balance purpose and sustainability.

Exceptional stakeholder engagement, influencing and relationship-building skills.

A collaborative leadership style with the ability to inspire, coach and develop high-performing teams.
Qualifications and Clearances:

Tertiary qualification in Business, Management, Retail, Human Services or a related discipline.

Postgraduate qualification in Business Administration, Strategic Management or a related field will be highly regarded.

Current NDIS Worker Screening or DHS Disability Clearance (or willingness to obtain).

Current DHS Working With Children Check (or willingness to obtain)
-
NDIS Worker Orientation Module – Quality, Safety and You (or willingness to obtain).
-
Appropriate Infection Control Certificate (or willingness to obtain).
-
Child Safe Environments certificate (or willingness to obtain).
Special Conditions:

Work rights for Australia.

Current Australian Driver’s Licence. (restricted P2 licence and above)

Ability to work and travel across different Barkuma sites.

Flexibility to attend occasional after-hours, weekend, intrastate or interstate commitments.
