Campbelltown Emergency Department (ED) is one of the busiest emergency departments in NSW, providing care across the full spectrum of emergency presentations, including paediatrics, mental health, acute medical and surgical emergencies, trauma, and critical care. This is an exciting opportunity for a Nurse Unit Manager (Lvl to provide frontline leadership within a progressive and rapidly growing department.

5-bed Resuscitation Unit

21-bed Emergency Short Stay Unit (ESSU)

What Does The Role Entail?

The Nurse Unit Manager (Lvl is responsible for providing visible clinical leadership and operational management within the Emergency Department.

Key responsibilities include:

Leading and coordinating the daily operations of a designated clinical area to ensure safe, high-quality patient care.
Supporting patient flow and achieving efficient access and throughput across the department.
Providing clinical leadership, supervision and support to nursing staff.
Promoting a positive workplace culture focused on teamwork, staff wellbeing and professional development.
Working collaboratively with medical, nursing and allied health teams to optimise patient outcomes.
Supporting quality improvement initiatives, clinical governance, accreditation activities and incident review.
Facilitating staff development through coaching, mentoring and performance management.
Escalating operational risks and contributing to strategic service improvements.

Who Does The Position Work With?

The Nurse Unit Manager (Lvl works closely with:

Nursing Manager and the Emergency Department leadership team.
Clinical Nurse Specialists, Clinical Nurse Educators and Registered Nurses.
Emergency Physicians and multidisciplinary medical teams.
Allied Health, Patient Flow, Bed Management and Hospital Executive.
NSW Ambulance, Mental Health, Community Services and other external stakeholders.

Experience leading change and supporting innovative models of care. Resilience, adaptability and the ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Selection Criteria

Current Authority to Practice as a Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA). Relevant tertiary qualifications or equivalent work experience or a combination of study and experience deemed appropriate by SWSLHD.
Describe how you demonstrate effective leadership and support a positive team culture within the Emergency Department. Include an example of leading a team through a challenging situation.
Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and engage with patients/consumers, carers and the multidisciplinary health care team to identify and ensure quality care.
Demonstrated understanding of operational factors that influence patient access, improve patient journey and impact on capacity management, with demonstrated knowledge on KPIs .
