Prominent Hill is home to a team that's more than 80% South Australian. You can build a strong mining career without leaving SA, with direct flights from Adelaide (1.5hrs) or Port Augusta (45 minutes).

You'll be extracting the copper that goes into electric vehicle batteries, solar panel wiring, and wind turbine components. Every day, you're contributing to Australia's clean energy future.

About the Role

In this role, you will lead a team of planning engineers, drive planning standards and improvements, and work closely with operations and technical teams to turn strategy into executable plans.

If you enjoy solving complex problems, influencing outcomes, and mentoring others while staying close to the technical detail, this role offers both challenge and scale.

You'll be part of a collaborative team where people listen to your ideas for improvements. Safety isn't just a slogan here—it's how we look out for each other every day.

You'll work alongside experienced professionals who value curiosity, collaboration, and practical problem-solving.

8 days on, 6 days off roster gives you a regular rhythm - focused work periods followed by extended time at home.

In this role you will:

Lead and coach planning engineers, uplift capability, and build a culture focused on quality planning, continuous improvement, and innovative thinking.
Work with a modern UG mining operation that encourages creativity and supports smart solutions—not one that sticks to “this is how we’ve always done it”.
Translate strategic objectives into achievable, value‑optimised execution plans.
Drive improvements in planning standards, tools, and processes, including hands‑on use of Deswik
Have a strong pathway into Integrated Planning or Technical Services Leadership.

About You

We're looking for people who want to grow their expertise while contributing to our success
Strong foundation in drill and blast and mine planning with curiosity to learn more
Apply your problem-solving skills to real-world challenges, with guidance from experienced engineers
Enjoy being able to influence a wide range of stakeholders and gathering information.
Expertise with Deswik software; we will expand your knowledge as required.
A solid understanding of underground value drivers including development sequencing, stope design, drill and blast cycles, backfill, ventilation interactions, and equipment productivity.
