About the role
Reporting to the GM Infrastructure Operations Excellence, the Manager Infrastructure Process Safety is responsible for leading the deployment and stewardship of the Infrastructure process safety strategy. This role ensures that Business Unit-specific resources are allocated to support day-to-day operations, while pooled resources are effectively deployed across infrastructure improvement initiatives and projects. Build a culture where Business Units are accountable for assets and own the risks and regulatory compliance obligations and are appropriately supported by OE Partnering resources that provide practice and pragmatic advice.
Key responsibilities
Lead the development and continuous improvement of Infrastructure process safety frameworks, standards and critical controls.
Ensure alignment with regulatory requirements, Group standards and industry best practice to strengthen process safety performance.
Drive the consistent implementation, verification and effectiveness of critical risk controls across Infrastructure operations.
Lead the deployment of process safety partnering resources to support operational activities and risk management
Lead and coordinate broader initiatives and projects to drive strategic outcomes
Provide expert advice and oversight on hazard identification, risk assessment and complex process safety decisions.
Build and maintain strong relationships with regulators, governance functions and key business stakeholders to ensure effective compliance and oversight.
Support Business Units in enhancing process safety performance, regulatory compliance, assurance activities and audit readiness.
Develop process safety capabilities and foster a culture of ownership, prevention and continuous improvement
Key skills and experience
Masters degree or equivalent level in Engineering, chemical or process, RPEQ certification
Demonstrated extensive experience in process engineering across complex infrastructure or high risk, heavy industrial environments such as mineral processing, oil and gas or power generation, with extensive understanding of operational risk and safety challenges.
Demonstrated managerial level experience in planning, managing, organizing resources within short/medium timescales within the overall policy framework
Detailed knowledge of management of change processes and an approved advanced risk assessment facilitator (eg. HAZOP leader)
Works at an advanced level to review and evaluate recommendations and requirements and to develop appropriate plans or deliver actions required
