We are seeking a Water Sustainability Project Officer to coordinate and deliver our Groundwater Use Reduction Program. This is an exciting opportunity to lead projects that improve irrigation efficiency, support biodiversity, optimise public open space assets, and contribute to a more sustainable future for our community.
The key responsibilities of this role include:
- Coordinating the planning and delivery of the City's Groundwater Use Reduction Program and associated projects.
- Managing irrigation efficiency improvements, eco-zoning initiatives, landscape projects and irrigation asset upgrades across parks and public open spaces.
- Planning, budgeting, monitoring and reporting on project delivery, timelines and groundwater reduction targets.
- Analysing groundwater abstraction and irrigation performance data to support informed decision-making.
- Coordinating contractors and consultants to deliver irrigation, landscape and infrastructure projects safely, on time and within budget.
- Preparing project scopes, specifications, procurement documentation and participating in contractor selection processes.
- Monitoring contractor performance, project quality, budgets and compliance with City standards.
- Working collaboratively with internal stakeholders.
- Building positive relationships with government agencies, industry partners and community stakeholders.
- Preparing reports, project updates and documentation to support regulatory reporting and program outcomes.
- Promoting sustainable water management practices, continuous improvement and excellent customer service.
To be successful in this role you will have:
- Tertiary qualifications in irrigation, engineering, environmental management, landscape management, sustainability, landscape architecture, project management or a related discipline, or equivalent demonstrated experience.
- Demonstrated experience coordinating or managing projects from planning through to delivery.
- Experience with irrigation systems, groundwater infrastructure, environmental projects, parks operations or water management programs (highly regarded).
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret technical and performance data.
- Experience preparing reports, budgets and project documentation.
- Well-developed relationship management skills with the ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and project management/reporting systems.
- A current C Class Driver's Licence.
Salary package
In line with the City of Subiaco Inside Staff Industrial Agreement 2025, this position is classified as a Level 6. The salary range is $101,289.24 to $111,407.40 per annum pro rata, exclusive of superannuation.
