This is your opportunity to play a pivotal role in delivering the final major construction section of Australia's largest freight rail infrastructure project.
At Inland Rail, we're connecting regional communities, strengthening supply chains, and shaping the future of freight transport across Australia. As we enter the critical construction phase of the Illabo to Stockinbingal (I2S) Greenfield Section, we're seeking an experienced Senior Safety Advisor to help ensure every aspect of our delivery is undertaken safely, responsibly, and in line with our commitment to zero harm.
Working closely with project leaders, contractors, and frontline teams, you will provide expert health and safety leadership across site establishment, mobilisation, and construction activities. This is a hands-on role where you will influence culture, drive compliance, and help create a safe working environment for everyone involved in delivering this landmark project.
Key responsibilities:

Lead the implementation and monitoring of health and safety requirements across the I2S project.

Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, including the National Rail Safety Law and Inland Rail safety standards.

Provide coaching, advice, and guidance to project teams and contractors.

Conduct audits, inspections, risk assessments, and incident investigations.

Review and develop project safety documentation, plans, and procedures.

Deliver toolbox talks, safety training, and awareness initiatives.

Support contractor onboarding and ongoing safety performance management.

Monitor and report on project health and safety performance, risks, and opportunities for improvement.

Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders, contractors, regulators, and external partners.

About you
You are a proactive safety professional who thrives in complex construction environments and enjoys partnering with teams to achieve outstanding safety outcomes.
You'll bring:

Qualifications in Health & Safety or significant experience in a Health & Safety Advisor, Coordinator, or Manager role.

Experience working in rail, construction, infrastructure, or a similar high-risk industry.

Previous experience supporting large-scale construction delivery.

Strong knowledge of relevant state and federal safety legislation and standards.

Experience conducting safety audits, risk assessments, and incident investigations.

The ability to prepare high-quality safety management documentation and plans.

Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
-
RIW Card (or ability to obtain one quickly).
-
Current Class C Driver's Licence.
