Full-Time permanent role (38hrs per week)
$117,401 - $131,096 Band 7 plus superannuation

City of Boroondara is seeking an experienced and passionate Arts Programming and Major Events Specialist to lead the planning, coordination and delivery of a dynamic portfolio of performing arts, cultural programs, grants initiatives and major community events.

This is an exciting opportunity for a creative and strategic arts professional to influence cultural participation and community connection while working with artists, cultural organisations, community groups and stakeholders to deliver exceptional public-facing experiences.

About the Role

Reporting to the Senior Coordinator Community and Cultural Programming, you will lead a multidisciplinary team responsible for arts programming, cultural development, grants-related activity and major event delivery.

You will play a key role in ensuring Council's arts and cultural offerings are innovative, inclusive and aligned with community priorities while delivering outstanding artistic, operational and community outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and oversee the delivery of performing arts programs, community cultural initiatives, grants activity and major events.
Develop and implement integrated programming plans that connect artistic, cultural and community outcomes.
Foster strong partnerships with artists, producers, cultural organisations, community groups and key stakeholders.
Guide the successful planning, delivery and evaluation of programs and events.
Lead, coach and support a team of arts and events professionals.
Manage project budgets, procurement processes and financial reporting requirements.
Drive continuous improvement through program evaluation, audience development and stakeholder feedback.
Ensure programs and opportunities are effectively promoted to maximise community engagement and participation.

About You

You are an experienced arts and cultural professional with a strong background in programming, producing, event delivery or cultural development. You are equally comfortable thinking strategically and managing operational delivery, while building strong relationships across diverse stakeholder groups.

To be successful, you will have:

Relevant tertiary qualifications in arts administration, producing, event management, project management or a related discipline, and/or significant relevant experience.
Demonstrated experience delivering public-facing arts, cultural, community or event programs.
Strong project management skills across planning, delivery and evaluation phases.
Experience leading teams and fostering a collaborative, high-performing culture.
Exceptional stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills.
Strong financial, budget monitoring and procurement experience.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including report writing and grant-related documentation.
High-level proficiency in Microsoft 365 and relevant business systems.
The ability to manage competing priorities and deliver quality outcomes in a fast-paced environment.
