ABOUT THE POSITION

TLEA is welcoming applications for a full-time, maximum-term Senior Engineer Process to join our team at our Kwinana plant.
The successful applicant will be responsible for providing senior process engineering support for refinery ramp-up, plant improvement and capital project delivery to assist the organisation to achieve its objective to produce the highest quality and most cost-effective lithium in the world.
In addition to possessing our core values of distinction, pragmatism, honesty, tenacity and innovation, this position will suit an individual with experience of having worked in Brownfields Operations and Environments.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide senior process engineering support for refinery ramp-up, plant improvement and capital project delivery.
Develop, review and verify process engineering deliverables, including PFDs, P&IDs, heat and mass balances, process calculations, datasheets, specifications and process control philosophies.
Review engineering contractor deliverables to ensure technical consistency, process safety, operability and alignment with plant requirements, site standards and project objectives.
Support the development of process concepts, design scopes of work and technical inputs for capital projects and brownfield plant modifications.
Perform and/or verify process engineering calculations, including line sizing, pressure drop, equipment sizing checks, utility requirements and process capacity assessments.
Identify process constraints, operational risks and improvement opportunities, and recommend practical, fit-for-purpose engineering solutions.
Provide technical input to risk assessments, HAZOPs, operability reviews, constructability reviews and management of change processes.
Support technical query resolution during design, construction, commissioning and ramp-up phases.
Work closely with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, Projects and external contractors to ensure process designs are safe, practical, maintainable and fit for purpose.
Support commissioning, troubleshooting, plant performance review and process optimisation activities as required.
Prepare technical reports, design review comments, engineering notes and recommendations, and provide technical guidance to other team members where required.
WHAT YOU CAN BRING
Minimum 5 years’ professional experience in process engineering within the resources, refinery, chemical processing, hydrometallurgy, mineral processing or heavy industry sector.
Operating and/or design experience in refinery, chemical processing or similar plant environments.
Experience in capital projects, brownfield plant modifications, design review or owner’s team engineering support.
Sound knowledge of process engineering deliverables, including PFDs, P&IDs, process calculations, datasheets, specifications and process control philosophies.
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Chemical Engineering or a related discipline.
Experience in lithium refinery, lithium hydroxide/carbonate production or related lithium chemical processing facilities will be highly regarded.

TLEA proudly acknowledges and the Whadjuk and Gnaala Karla Boodja people of the Noongar Nation, as the traditional custodians of the Kwinana area, where we operate our plant.
Kwinana is 38 km from the Perth central business district, 20 km from City of Fremantle and just 7km from Rockingham.
