About the Department / Program
The Monash Health Familial Cancer Centre provides Genetic Counselling, assessment and in some cases genetic testing for individuals and families who have been diagnosed with cancer or have a family history of cancer. We are located in McCulloch House at Monash Health in Clayton and have clinics at Morrabbin, Clayton and Berwick.
About the Role
Join our team as an Intake Assitant on a part time (2 days per week, 30.2 hours a fortnight), fixed term (31st March 2027 with the possibility of extension to work at McCulloch House based at Monash Health, Clayton. In this role, you will be guided under the leadership of the Senior Genetic Counsellor/Unit Manager and working with the broader Familial Cancer Centre team.
Days will be negotiated based on the successful applicants current university commitments.
About You
To be successful in this healthcare role, you will bring the following demonstrated skills, experience, and attributes:
Process new referrals for the FCC for individuals referred to the centre
Liaise and work with Genetic Counsellors and other FCC team members to complete intake process
Assist in intake process service development as required
Participate in education activities as required
Other tasks as deemed necessary by Director or Unit Manager
Essential: Ability to work independently as well as part of a team, to exercise judgment, show initiative and maintain confidentiality in performance of tasks
Essential: Computer skills – competence in Microsoft office
Desirable: Previous experience in a Genetics Service, Familial Cancer Centre or Telephone Work
Mandatory requirements of the role - qualifications, licences, memberships,
Must be enrolled in the First Year of a Masters of Genetic Counselling Course
Must hold a current Working with Children's Check
