Senior Network Engineer | Kanji IT
Own the Network. Master Linux. Solve the Hard Problems.
Kanji IT is looking for a Senior Network Engineer to take ownership of enterprise network operations, infrastructure, and L3 escalation across a complex APAC environment.
Based in Sydney CBD, this is a hands-on senior role for an engineer who is equally comfortable troubleshooting BGP and OSPF, managing enterprise networks, diving deep into Linux, analysing packet captures, and solving complex infrastructure issues.
You’ll be part of a follow-the-sun technical team across Sydney, Auckland, and Perth, working closely with infrastructure, security, development, and support teams.
About the Role
You’ll be a key technical escalation point responsible for keeping Kanji IT’s LAN, WAN, WLAN, and data centre networks reliable, secure, and highly available.
This role combines advanced network engineering with strong Linux administration and engineering. You’ll have genuine ownership of the environment and the opportunity to improve network design, performance, monitoring, automation, and operational processes.
Strong Linux experience is essential. We’re looking for someone with proven experience as a Linux Administrator, Linux Engineer, or senior infrastructure professional who can troubleshoot complex networking issues directly from within Linux environments.

-
Support network monitoring, logging, and observability platforms
-
Develop automation and tooling using Bash and Python or Go
-
Maintain accurate network architecture and operational documentation
-
Identify opportunities to improve reliability, automation, performance, and support processes

-
Strong production experience with BGP and OSPF
-
Advanced Layer 1, Layer 2, and Layer 3 troubleshooting skills
-
Proven professional experience as a Linux Administrator, Linux Engineer, or senior Linux-focused Infrastructure Engineer
-

-
Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot network issues directly from a Linux host without relying on GUI tools
