8-Month Fixed Term Contract | Full-time Parental Leave cover
We’re seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Stock Controller to support Q Station’s Finance Team on a fixed term 8-month parental leave cover contract, commencing October 2026 through to June 2027. This role is also well suited to a recent graduate or early-career professional looking to develop their skills in finance, inventory management, purchasing, or hotel operations.
This is a unique opportunity for someone who enjoys working across finance, operations and hospitality, combining system-based inventory management with hands-on stock control responsibilities across one of Sydney’s most extraordinary heritage locations.
Your role:
- Manage daily stock control activities, including receiving deliveries, reconciling invoices, and maintaining accurate inventory records.
- Support purchasing, stock replenishment, transfers, and reporting to ensure departments have the supplies required to operate effectively.
- Work closely with suppliers and internal teams to investigate discrepancies, improve processes and maintain efficient stock management practices.

The Opportunity
This role plays an important part in supporting the wider hotel operations through accurate reporting, inventory management, and strong relationships with suppliers and internal departments.
This parental leave cover opportunity will suit someone who is organised, comfortable working with technology and data, and enjoys a role that balances administrative responsibilities with hands-on operational tasks. You will be required to physically receive deliveries, move stock across the property, and work collaboratively with different departments to ensure goods are delivered where they are needed.
Key Responsibilities

- Receive and process daily deliveries onsite, ensuring goods are accurately checked against purchase orders, delivery notes, and invoices.
- Reconcile goods received documentation and investigate any discrepancies relating to quantity, quality or value with suppliers and Department Managers.
- Update Purchase Plus and relevant systems with accurate stock delivery information.
- Assist with stock ordering and replenishment processes to support operational requirements.
- Monitor stock levels across departments and provide accurate reporting on inventory requirements.
- Coordinate and record internal stock transfers, ensuring goods are delivered to the correct departments and locations.
- Conduct regular stock audits and support monthly stocktakes across hotel outlets.
- Maintain accurate stock records, documentation, and reporting.
- Ensure stock rotation and storage procedures are followed to minimise wastage and loss.
- Support effective inventory control through data analysis, demand monitoring and identification of future requirements.
- Build strong working relationships with suppliers and internal teams to ensure business needs are met.
Essential Criteria
- Strong computer skills with confidence learning and using new systems and software.
- Experience using inventory, purchasing, or finance systems such as Purchase Plus, Xero, or similar platforms is highly regarded.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to maintain accurate records and identify discrepancies.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Strong problem-solving skills, with a practical approach to resolving issues.
- Ability to communicate effectively and build positive relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
- Comfortable working in a hands-on role, including physically receiving, lifting, and moving stock across a large hotel property.
- Ability to work independently while contributing positively as part of a wider team.
- A proactive attitude and willingness to learn, develop, and take ownership of responsibilities.
- Previous experience in inventory control, finance, hospitality, administration or purchasing is advantageous, however graduates and candidates with transferable skills are encouraged to apply.
