We are seeking an experienced Support Engineering Lead to provide technical leadership across engineering support, systems integration, verification and configuration management for a complex Defence Land Capability program.
This is a senior engineering role with a strong focus on establishing and managing engineering baselines and leading the engineering activities required to establish and operate a Systems Integration Laboratory (SIL). You will work closely with Project Engineering leadership, engineering functional leads, customers and subcontractors to deliver integrated, testable and supportable engineering outcomes.

This role is available in Melbourne, Adelaide, Canberra or Brisbane and can be performed from any of these locations.
The Role
You will play a key role during program phase-in and throughout delivery, establishing the engineering framework and providing technical leadership across the program lifecycle.
Key responsibilities:
Establish and maintain the Land Capability Program engineering baselines, including functional, allocated, product and configuration baselines.
Lead engineering activities for the establishment of the Systems Integration Laboratory, covering system design, integration planning, infrastructure readiness and operational acceptance.
Develop and manage systems engineering, requirements, architecture, design documentation and traceability.
Lead the elicitation, analysis and management of internal and external stakeholder requirements.
Provide technical leadership across hardware and software integration, system verification, validation and acceptance activities.
Ensure the SIL design supports effective verification and validation of the system under test.
Support technical reviews including SRR, PDR and CDR, working groups and technical demonstrations.
Manage configuration and engineering change activities for assigned systems, products and capabilities.
Lead technical analysis of test results, identify integration issues and drive corrective actions through to resolution.
Coordinate engineering activities across internal teams, customers and subcontractors.
Provide technical leadership during system installation, configuration, commissioning and maintenance.
Support the development of training materials, user documentation and technical knowledge transfer.
Provide technical input to scope, planning, estimating, risks and engineering work packages.
Undertake Control Account Manager / Work Package Manager responsibilities for assigned engineering activities.
Mentor engineers and foster a high-performance culture focused on technical quality, collaboration and continuous improvement
About you
You will be an experienced Systems Engineering professional with 8+ years’ experience, including significant exposure to complex, military and software-intensive systems. You will bring strong technical leadership capability and the confidence to engage with senior stakeholders across Defence, industry and engineering teams.
You will bring:
Extensive knowledge of systems engineering principles, practices and lifecycle management.
Strong experience delivering systems engineering within an ASDEFCON environment.
Demonstrated experience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams and technical workstreams.
Proven capability across requirements management, architecture, design, integration, verification and validation.
Experience establishing and managing engineering and configuration baselines.
Strong systems integration, testing, troubleshooting and technical problem-solving capability.
Experience with tools such as DOORS, Cameo Systems Modeler, Cradle or equivalent.
Understanding of networking and network security considerations within complex systems.
Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to translate complex technical matters for customers, engineers and senior leaders.
Experience mentoring engineers and building collaborative, accountable and high-performing teams.
Strong planning, prioritisation and project management skills, with the ability to manage competing technical priorities and deadlines.
Security & ITAR
Australian Defence Security Clearance – NV1 is required. Information including past and present nationality and citizenship may be requested to check eligibility for access to materials controlled under various export control regimes, including ITAR.
Ability to access and work with ITAR-controlled information
