Position Title
Fabricator / Welder
Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Fabricator / Welder to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for interpreting technical drawings, fabricating metal components, and performing high-quality welding work to support manufacturing and construction projects. The role requires strong attention to detail, adherence to safety standards, and the ability to work independently and within a team environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications.
- Measure, cut, shape, and assemble metal materials using hand and power tools.
- Perform MIG, TIG, and Arc welding on various steel, stainless steel, and aluminium components.
- Fabricate structural steel, frames, brackets, staircases, handrails, and custom metal products as required.
- Conduct grinding, polishing, drilling, and finishing activities to meet quality standards.
- Operate fabrication machinery including guillotines, presses, rollers, drills, and saws safely and efficiently.
- Inspect completed welds and fabricated components to ensure compliance with specifications and quality requirements.
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment in accordance with Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S) regulations.
- Work collaboratively with supervisors, engineers, and other trades personnel to complete projects on time.
- Assist with onsite installation and maintenance works when required.
- Report equipment faults, material shortages, and safety concerns promptly.
Skills & Experience
- Proven experience as a Fabricator / Welder in manufacturing, construction, or structural steel industries.
- Ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings and welding symbols.
- Experience with MIG, TIG, and Stick welding techniques.
- Knowledge of fabrication processes, metal properties, and workshop practices.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Physically fit and capable of manual handling and working in workshop and site environments.
Qualifications & Licences
- Trade qualification in Engineering Fabrication, Metal Fabrication, or Welding (preferred).
- Valid White Card (for onsite work).
- Forklift licence, EWP, or Dogman/Rigging tickets advantageous.
- Valid driver’s licence preferred.
Safety Requirements:
- Follow all workplace health and safety procedures and policies.
- Wear and maintain appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Participate in toolbox meetings and safety training sessions.
