Full Job Description

Our established business services practice is looking for an enthusiastic, professional and well-presented Receptionist & Practice Administration Assistant to join our team on a casual basis.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who wants to gain practical experience in a professional accounting environment and develop a career in accounting practice administration, client services, ASIC compliance and tax administration.

The position will initially be casual, with hours by agreement. For the right person, there is a genuine opportunity for the role to develop into permanent full-time employment.

Previous accounting practice experience would be highly regarded but is not essential. We are happy to train a motivated person with the right attitude, communication skills and attention to detail.

School leavers, university students and applicants beginning their professional career are encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities

The role will include a combination of reception, client service and accounting practice administration, including:

Greeting clients and attending to reception
Answering and directing telephone calls
Responding professionally to client emails and enquiries
Maintaining client records and practice management systems
Assisting with ASIC company compliance and corporate administration
Preparing and maintaining company records, ASIC annual statements and related documentation
Assisting accountants with tax compliance administration
Collating documentation for tax returns, BAS and other client work
Following up clients for information and outstanding documents
Preparing client correspondence, forms and engagement documentation
Maintaining electronic client files and document management systems
Assisting with time recording, time billing, invoicing and work-in-progress administration
Data entry and maintenance of client and business records
Monitoring important client and compliance deadlines
Providing general administrative assistance to accountants and senior team members

Has excellent presentation and communication skills
Is confident, friendly and professional when dealing with clients
Has strong written and verbal English skills
Has excellent attention to detail
Is organised and able to manage several tasks at once
Is comfortable working with numbers and financial information
Has good computer skills and is confident learning new software
Is reliable, punctual and takes responsibility for their work
Has a positive attitude and willingness to learn
Enjoys providing excellent client service
Is interested in developing a career within an accounting and professional services environment

Strong academic results, particularly in English, mathematics, accounting, business or commerce, will be highly regarded.

Training & Career Development

You will receive practical training and mentoring from experienced professionals across the day-to-day operation of an accounting practice.

The role provides exposure to:

Accounting practice management
ASIC and corporate compliance
Taxation administration
Client relationship management
Time billing and invoicing
Practice management software
Document and records management
Professional business communication

This is not simply a reception position. We are looking for someone who wants to learn, take on increasing responsibility and become an important part of our accounting practice.
