Lead the Evening Operations of One of Melbourne CBD's Busy Hotels

Are you an experienced hospitality professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys leading a team? Great Southern Hotel Melbourne is looking for a confident, customer-focused Full-Time Duty Manager to join our Front Office team.

Located in the heart of Melbourne's CBD, Great Southern Hotel offers 265 guest rooms and welcomes both business and leisure travellers. Just a short walk from Southern Cross Station, Crown Casino, Marvel Stadium, the Melbourne Convention & Exhibition Centre and many of Melbourne's iconic attractions, we pride ourselves on delivering exceptional guest experiences.

About the Role

This is a full-time permanent position working predominantly 3:00 PM – 11:00 PM.

As the Duty Manager, you will oversee the hotel's evening operations, ensuring seamless service delivery, guest satisfaction, and operational excellence while supporting and developing the Front Office team.

Key Responsibilities

Lead and supervise the Front Office team during afternoon and evening operations.
Ensure smooth guest check-ins and check-outs while maintaining exceptional service standards.
Handle guest enquiries, requests and complaints professionally, efficiently and with empathy.
Act as the Manager on Duty, making operational decisions and resolving issues as they arise.
Coordinate effectively with Housekeeping, Maintenance, Food & Beverage and other departments to ensure smooth hotel operations.
Support, coach and motivate the Front Office team while maintaining a positive workplace culture.
Ensure hotel policies, procedures and brand standards are consistently followed.
Assist with daily reporting, cash handling, shift balancing and end-of-day procedures.
Maintain a safe, secure and welcoming environment for both guests and team members.

About You

We're looking for someone who is passionate about hospitality and enjoys leading from the front.

You will have:

Minimum 1 years' experience in a Front Office Supervisor or Duty Manager role within a hotel.
Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and support a diverse team.
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
A genuine passion for delivering memorable guest experiences.
Proven experience handling guest complaints and resolving issues confidently.
Excellent organisational and time management skills.
The ability to remain calm and make sound decisions under pressure.
Professional presentation and grooming.
Availability to work full-time afternoon and evening shifts (3:00 PM – 11:00 PM), including weekends and public holidays on a rotating roster.
Full Australian working rights.

Experience with Opera Cloud or similar Property Management Systems will be highly regarded, however training will be provided.
