About the Role
Babcock is seeking an experienced Structures Engineer (AME) to join our Aviation team.
Working within a dynamic maintenance environment, you will provide specialist structural maintenance support across aircraft fleets, undertaking a broad range of activities including sheet metal repairs, composite repairs, corrosion prevention and control, modifications, and interior and exterior preservation.
Reporting to the appropriate Line Manager or Coordinating Licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (LAME), you will play a key role in maintaining aircraft airworthiness, supporting maintenance activities, and contributing to the safe and efficient delivery of aviation services.
This is a hands-on position suited to a motivated aviation professional who takes pride in quality workmanship, safety, and continuous improvement. The role may require occasional travel to other Babcock locations and support across multiple aircraft fleets as operational requirements dictate.
Success in this role will come from your technical expertise, commitment to safety and regulatory compliance, strong attention to detail, and ability to work collaboratively within a high-performing maintenance team.
About You
To Be Successful, You Will Bring
Valid trade certification relevant to aircraft structural maintenance.
Demonstrated experience as a Structures AME, including sheet metal and composite repairs.
Rotary-wing aircraft experience (highly desirable).
Experience mentoring and supporting apprentices and developing trades personnel.
Aircraft painting experience and qualifications (preferred).
Strong understanding of aviation maintenance regulations and compliance requirements, including CASA regulations and associated guidance material.
Ability to interpret maintenance instructions, drawings, and technical documentation.
Strong communication and teamwork skills with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
Commitment to maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and airworthiness.
Key Responsibilities
Perform structural maintenance activities including sheet metal repairs, composite repairs, corrosion prevention and modifications.
Support engineering activities and provide technical assistance as required.
Ensure all maintenance activities are conducted in accordance with Babcock's Safety Management System (SMS) and Quality Management System (QM).
Comply with all applicable CARs, CASRs, Civil Aviation Orders and CASA guidance material.
Carry out work safely and efficiently while maintaining the highest standards of workmanship and airworthiness.
Work under the direction of the certifying LAME and comply with all maintenance instructions and procedures.
Complete maintenance documentation accurately and ensure all records are maintained in accordance with regulatory and company requirements.
Maintain awareness of task progress and communicate any issues impacting completion, including tooling, spares, support equipment or technical concerns.
Assist with maintaining clean, organised and safe work environments.
Provide mentoring, guidance and on-the-job training to Apprentices, AMEs and LAMEs where appropriate.
Maintain currency on relevant manuals, procedures and technical publications.
Support continuous improvement initiatives and contribute positively to team performance.
