ABOUT THE ROLE
The position exists to undertake structural design assurance activities to ensure Metro’s principles and standards are met.
Based at our offices in the CBD, this role is offered on a 18 month maximum term basis.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Review design drawings, reports, and supporting technical documentation to verify compliance with MTM standards, Project Requirements Specifications, applicable Australian and International Standards, applicable legislation and regulatory requirements, operational needs, due diligence processes, and SFAIRP (So Far As Is Reasonably Practicable) principles.

Support the Structures Design Review Lead by reviewing Standard Waivers and proposed engineering changes, responding to Requests For Information (RFI), and provide expert technical advice on the acceptability of non-conformances to Standards (Waivers).

Participate in risk assessment, Safety in Design reviews, and design workshops, to identify and mitigate risks ensuring MTM can demonstrate risk are managed in accordance with SFAIRP principles.

Proactively identify, consult, and liaise with internal and external stakeholders to ensure functional and operational requirements are achieved, design related matters are effectively managed, and project works are successfully integrated.

Engage and coordinate with MTM engineering disciplines to ensure all works are effectively integrated.

Plan, organise, and prioritise assigned tasks to ensure timely completion while maintaining consistently high-quality outputs.

Monitor and report on the progress of all issues in the assigned tasks and promptly escalate any issues that may have a material adverse impact on the project or the business.

Contribute to initiatives aimed at identifying and implementing improvements in work practices, methods, and processes..

Support the organization's broader objective of maximizing the technical knowledge base, aligning activities with company objectives and strategic goals.
ABOUT YOU
-
Over 7 years’ experience in Bridge and Building Structures Engineering in a design, construction and/or maintenance environment.

Tertiary qualification in Engineering suitable for membership of the Institution of Engineers Australia or an appropriate technical qualification with proven industry capability acceptable to MTM

Proven ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and verbally.

Substantial experience providing service across multiple business areas in a large organisation
