Full Job Description

Description of position:

Actively greets members, verifies membership card, keeps entry counts. Provides high level of member service and performs warehouse safety and security checks. Checks member receipts at exit and thanks member. Process member sign ups, renewals and added cards. Instructs members and potential members about membership and warehouse programs.

Daily tasks and responsibilities:

Conducts hourly building safety and security checks. Walks the building and perimeter. Corrects safety and security problems encountered, such as spills, trip hazards, and blocked exits. Fills out reports and shows results to the duty manager. Attends warehouse safety meetings.
Welcomes members entering the warehouse. Approaches, smiles, makes eye contact, and greets. Verifies membership card. Offers cart if necessary. Keeps entrance/exit area clean.
Clicks a handheld counter to count members entering the warehouse. Reports half-hourly counts to Front End Supervisor and records counts on weekly reports.
Monitors building access. Reports arrival of armored transport vehicle to duty manager. Discretely observes armored deposit pick up, jewelry and register drawer set up and pick-up while holding panic button. Checks backpacks, lunch pails, briefcases, strollers, etc. at exit.
Greets exiting member. Checks accuracy and validity of member's receipts and compares to merchandise. Arranges speedy assistance for any member correction or concern. Marks receipt with highlighter, thanks member.
Provides and arranges prompt and courteous member service. Directs members to product and service locations. Enlists assistance for loading, shopping, etc. Dries off wet carts.
Watches after hours exit door discretely from private vehicle and reports door area status by 2-way radio before doors can be opened for employees. Drives building perimeter for security checks. Watches closing managers leave. Reports suspicious activity to duty manager and calls police if necessary.
Welcomes and communicates with members and potential members, in person, by phone, or by mail. Answers questions, resolves problems, and explains membership and warehouse programs to keep knowledge up to date.
Provides and arranges for prompt and courteous member service. Answers phone, runs to the floor to check item availability, directs members to product and service locations. Enlists assistance for member loading or shopping. Responds helpfully to member concerns, secures manager assistance as necessary.
Processes new memberships and member maintenance. Keys membership information into computer, keeps logs and paperwork, obtains supervisor approvals when necessary. Follows departmental procedures for paperwork and performance of duties.
Follows all safety and security procedures. Verifies identity, business information for memberships.
Collects membership dues as keyed to computer by check, cash, and debit/credit terminal. Issues receipts.
Issues membership cards using computer, camera, and automated card printer. Issues temporary cards by researching memberships information in computer and hand writing cards. Issues employee name badges.
Keys credit card applications; conforms to credit card company practices for verifications, confidentiality, access and discretion.
Assists at refund counter or with marketing as necessary. Cleans department. Stocks forms and cleans and supplies printers.
Non-Essential Functions and Tasks:
- Assists with front end duties as necessary.
- Assists in other departments of the warehouse as necessary

Team Player - Cooperates well with a variety of personalities and individuals and participates in a professional manner to accomplish the business goal. Willingness to perform tasks assigned by supervisors and to assist others as needed.
Flexibility - Adjusts positively to change in direction or assignment. Ability to do more than one task during a work shift. Proven ability to comply with new programs, methods, practices, and procedures.
Record of Satisfactory Job Performance - Demonstrates satisfactory job performance as indicated on the most recent review through positive demonstration of Costco's Success Behaviours, and by a file free from counselling notices related to job performance.

Applicants must hold a current drivers licence and will be required to undertake a Pre Employement Medical and may be required to undertake a National Police Clearance
