Full Job Description

Meriton has designed, developed and built more than 80,000 award winning apartments and some of the tallest residential towers across the east coast of Australia. Meriton offers sales, leasing and property management services, as well as the luxury hotel accommodation brand Meriton Suites with 23 locations nationwide.

We’re seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Safety Officer to join our growing team to support our commitment to a safe and healthy workplace. Based in Surfers Paradise, this is an exciting opportunity focuses on maintaining compliance and promoting workplace safety culture in our construction site.

As a Safety Officer, you will be responsible for enforcing safety policies, conducting risk assessments, and collaborating with various teams to identify and mitigate potential hazards. Your role will be instrumental in ensuring that all workplace activities comply with regulatory requirements and internal standards.

Key responsibilities:

Monitoring and enforcing compliance with health and safety legislation and company safety policies.
Conducting regular risk assessments and safety audits across different operational areas.
Investigating incidents and near misses to develop corrective actions.
Delivering safety training and awareness programs to workforce teams.
Collaborating with management and employees to foster a strong safety culture.
Preparing safety reports and documentation for internal and external stakeholders.

What We’re Looking For:

Minimum of Cert 4 in Work Health & Safety or related fields.
Proven experience in workplace health and safety roles in high-rise residential construction.
Strong knowledge of WH&S legislation, policies, and best practices.
Ability to manage employees and subcontractors with a safety-first approach.
Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
Strong initiative and problem-solving abilities.
