About the role
Mater Private Hospital Bundaberg is seeking an experienced Scrub Scout nurses to join our team. This is a permanent part-time position, with flexible contracted hours available between 24–32 hours per week. Our Theaters operate Monday to Friday, with occasional weekend shifts available. Operating hours range from 6:30am to 8:30pm.
Our Perioperative Department features three operating theatres and one procedure room, where we perform over 4,400 procedures annually. We specialise in a wide range of surgical services including gynaecology, general surgery, orthopaedics, reconstructive plastics, urology, ophthalmology, respiratory procedures, and more. Salary range: $42.99 -$55.14 per hour plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 + access to many staff benefits!
What you’ll be doing
Registered Nurses provide evidence-based and contemporary patient-centred clinical care in collaboration with other multidisciplinary healthcare team members.
- Facilitating the surgeon within the theatre setting, supporting and collaborating with the theatre team to provide excellent patient centred care
- Preparation of the operating theatre and preparing patients for surgery ensuring all documentation is completed.
- Achieving optimal patient outcomes throughout the patient journey and continuum of care
- Demonstrating exceptional clinical expertise and knowledge of procedures and the management of patients seeking outstanding care
- The delivery of care extends to patient advocacy with particular consideration to patients' physical, emotional and spiritual needs that contribute to optimal clinical outcomes.
- Ensuring safe and efficient care management within the scope of practice and professional guidelines.
About you

To be successful in this position, you will have:
- Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse with no practice restrictions
- Minimum of one-year post-graduate perioperative or Day Surgery experience
- Experience working as a scrub scout is desirable
- However, if you have limited perioperative experience but have transferrable skills, training is available
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and clinical problem-solving skills
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Demonstrated commitment to continued quality improvement and best practice principles
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to liaise with a variety of different stakeholders both internally and externally at various levels
