About the Role:
This is a permanent job-share position at 1.0 FTE total (hours per fortnight negotiable) within the Victorian Forensic Paediatric Medical Service (VFPMS). The CNC VFPMS is the in-hours first point of contact for enquiries related to requests for a forensic paediatric medical service and will be responsible for triaging of children and young people who present with problems that might indicate abuse, assault or neglect in accordance with current VFPMS guidelines.
The CNC VFPMS is involved with direct patient care as part of a multidisciplinary team and will also be involved with the following types of activities:
Collaborating with health and counselling services to ensure that children, young people and their families access a broad range of health, mental health and support services available to them
Liaising with Child Protection and Victoria Police to facilitate communication between professionals from these organisations and health care providers
Being involved with direct patient care as part of a multidisciplinary team
Providing education to both internal and external stakeholders i.e. Child Protection services, Victoria Police –Sexual Offences and Child Abuse Investigation Teams (SOCIT)
Assisting the Medical Director and the Deputy Director to coordinate the delivery of VFPMS services in rural and regional Victoria
Internally, this position will be known and/or referred to as: VFPMS Clinical Nurse Consultant or VFPMS Clinical Nurse Consultant - CLIN NURSE CONS A-B.
Classification for this position will be governed by Award 22 and depending on experience, will range from ZF4 (CNC A) to ZJ4 (CNC B) from FTE base salary $121,695.60 to $128,102.00 per annum, plus Superannuation).
What you’ll achieve:
Provide clinical advice and technical expertise to the multi-disciplinary healthcare teams, patients and families/carers to develop ensuring the delivery of high quality, safe and efficient care
Participate in multi-disciplinary forums to promote continuous care improvement and inform quality clinical decision making, contribute to clinical guidelines and use data to extend knowledge and enable improved outcomes
Develop, facilitate and deliver educational programs, workshops and in-service training
Your skills and experience:
Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) administered through the Australia Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
Demonstrated commitment to ongoing personal and professional development
Willingness to work towards a post graduate qualification in forensic nursing
About the Department:
The Victorian Forensic Paediatric Medical Service (VFPMS) operates as a Centre of Excellence for Child Abuse and Forensic Paediatric Medicine. The VFPMS operates as a tertiary hospital referral centre providing advice and secondary consultations for Victorian Health professionals, Police and Child Protection Practitioners. We have a leadership role in establishing standards, protocols and guidelines in relation to forensic paediatric medicine in Victoria and serves as a leading Victorian centre for teaching and research in the medical aspects of child maltreatment.
