At the City of Melville, we're committed to creating a safe, healthy and welcoming community. We're looking for a proactive and customer-focused Swimming Pool Inspector to join our Compliance Services team and play an important role in improving safety outcomes for residents.
In this role, you'll undertake inspections of private swimming pools and safety barriers to ensure compliance with legislation, provide practical advice to property owners, and help reduce the risk of preventable accidents. No two days are the same; you'll spend your time out in the community, engaging with residents, investigating compliance matters and contributing to the continuous improvement of our services.
Location: City of Melville Civic Centre
Salary: $82,264.19 to $96,024.59 pro-rata p.a. + 12% Super
Employment Type: Fixed Term until February 2027, Full Time
What You’ll Be Doing
- Conduct swimming pool and safety barrier inspections in accordance with relevant legislation
- Prepare inspection reports and maintain accurate records using Council systems
- Provide clear advice and guidance to residents and other stakeholders regarding swimming pool safety requirements
- Investigate non-compliance matters and prepare infringement notices where required
- Support compliance activities through accurate reporting, administration and database management
- Contribute to the review and improvement of systems, processe,s and procedures
- Promote a positive customer experience while balancing education, compliance and community safety
What We’re Looking For
You'll enjoy working independently while building positive relationships with the community. You're confident communicating with a wide range of people, have a keen eye for detail and can make balanced decisions in a regulatory environment.
You'll also bring:
- A current National Police Clearance or willingness to obtain
- A current 'C' Class Driver's Licence
- A White Card (or the ability to obtain one)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent customer service and stakeholder engagement skills
- Experience undertaking inspections, investigations or compliance activities
- Well-developed organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities
- Experience preparing reports and maintaining accurate records
- Sound computer skills including Microsoft Office and electronic databases
- Knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations and compliance processes
- Experience using GIS or Land Information Systems
