Keep prison finance records accurate and support important daily operations.
Help manage prisoner funds, payments and financial records with care.
Work in a stable ongoing role that supports rehabilitation and community safety.
Build your finance skills in a supportive correctional centre environment.
Ongoing, full-time role earning $62,104 - $79,753 per year, plus super.

About Us

Hopkins Correctional Centre is a medium security prison located in Western Victoria housing up to 798 people. The prison takes a multi-disciplinary approach that promotes active participation in activities structured to assist with rehabilitation and reintegration back to community at end of sentence.

What you will do

As justice officer - finance, you will help deliver accurate finance services at Hopkins Correctional Centre.

You will support daily finance operations while keeping records complete, accurate and on time.

You will:

process accounts payable, receivable, reconciliations, data entry and financial reporting
manage prisoner private monies, receipts and deductions using the prisoner finance system
maintain accurate electronic and paper records that meet department policies and legal requirements
prepare routine correspondence and reports and support purchasing, banking and petty cash
work with prison staff to support prisoner transfers, reception, discharge and finance activities.

About you

You do not need formal qualifications for this role. Experience in administration or finance will help you succeed. This role includes direct contact with prisoners and may require weekend and public holiday work.

You should also have:

experience in purchasing, accounts payable, cash handling or other finance tasks
strong computer skills and confidence using office software and equipment
knowledge of relevant legislation, policies and finance procedures
good problem-solving skills, respectful communication and the ability to work well with others.
