About the role
The Associate SD WAN Implementation Architect is a developing technical lead for customer deployments of managed network services, accountable for the solution design and configuring the SD WAN platforms for the customer.
With support from the Implementation team an in conjunction with an SDWAN Architect they will take the high-level product offering and design compiled during the presales process, gather detailed requirements from the customer, create a low-level design and manage major aspects of the customer’s solution implementation, including the configuration of their network, security policies and firewalls.
The role will liaise with customers and several internal teams, including Sales, Pre-Sales, Engineering, Provisioning, Operations, etc, to develop the correct design for the customer and ensure they have a seamless onboarding experience.
What you’ll be doing day-to-day

- Work with customers to document detailed configuration requirements and create a low-level design documents.
- Lead workshops and engagement with customers to discuss key technical and operational aspects of the Vocus solution, including the migration/cutover strategy and integration with third party solutions/networks/systems.
- Manage the implementation of the customer’s solution in accordance with the agreed plan.
- Be able to work with other members of the Implementation team to hone, develop and improve their SD WAN Architect skills.
- Create configuration templates and standards for use throughout the deployment and brief the service delivery engineers on the solution to enable the efficient delivery of individual services.
- Take technical ownership of design and technical deployment escalations and work with internal stakeholders across engineering, logistics, products, support and service delivery to resolve them.
- Continue self-development and studies to keep informed and continue technical growth with
- Act as the provisioning SME on key vendor platforms such as Fortinet SDWAN and Cisco Meraki.
- Creation of the managed services delivery and support playbook, to guide customer deployments and document the expected customer experience. The playbook will be used as a repeatable way to deliver complex solutions to customers.
- Work within the Delivery team to capture learnings and feedback from each customer deployment and embed process improvements into the operations function.

- Be familiar with policies and procedures, as well as completing any associated training, as communicated or made available on the intranet and our learning systems.
What you’ll bring to the role
- Experience in a lead delivery engineer / solution architect role in a carrier or managed service provider environment.
- Experience and formal certification in vendor platforms, including Fortinet and Cisco. It will be advantageous to hold advanced Fortinet certifications to NSE4 level.
- Experience in SD-WAN solution and network design, with experience in creating detailed configurations.
- Experience in technical requirements gathering and documentation.
- Clear communicator and able to write clear documentation and lead technical meetings with senior customer contacts.
- Experience with network automation scripting technologies such as Python, Perl, Shell, Puppet, Chef or Ansible and API-driven solutions.
- NV1 Cleared or ability to obtain clearance- Desirable
