Provisions Café is a busy neighbourhood café located in the heart of Williamstown, known for quality coffee, fresh food and a friendly, team-first culture.

Our menu focuses on fresh, generous and beautifully presented breakfast, brunch and lunch dishes, including classic café favourites, eggs, pancakes, French toast, breakfast stacks, salads, burgers, pasta, fish, chicken and seasonal specials.

We pride ourselves on using quality ingredients, maintaining consistency and providing our customers with an exceptional dining experience.

About the Role

We're looking for an experienced and passionate Chef to join our kitchen team.

This is a hands-on position suited to a chef who enjoys working in a busy café environment and takes pride in producing high-quality food consistently.

You will be responsible for preparing and cooking our breakfast and lunch menu, maintaining kitchen standards, managing food preparation and supporting the smooth operation of the kitchen during busy service periods.

What You'll Be Cooking

Our breakfast menu includes dishes such as:

Provisions Big Breaky with eggs, bacon, mushrooms, spinach, tomato and sausage
Vegetarian Big Breaky with homemade hash brown, baked beans, grilled tomato, spinach and broccoli
Eggs Benedict with double smoked ham and hollandaise
Eggs Salmon with smoked salmon, avocado, poached eggs, hollandaise and capers
Chilli Scrambled Eggs with bacon or vegetables, avocado, feta and chilli
Avo Mash with poached eggs, beetroot hummus, cherry tomatoes and seeds
Zucchini & Corn Fritters with avocado, haloumi, egg and salsa
Pancakes with maple syrup, fresh fruit, banana and butterscotch
Fruity French Toast with raspberry coulis and vanilla bean mascarpone
Breakfast stacks, bruschetta and seasonal breakfast specials
Omelettes and build-your-own breakfast options

Our lunch menu includes dishes such as:

Chicken Parmigiana with garden salad and chips
Calamari with garden salad and chips
Tomato Pasta and Carbonara
Grilled Chicken with quinoa and roasted vegetables
Salmon Bliss Bowl
Grilled Barramundi with salad and brown rice or chips
Butter Chicken and Black Pepper Chicken
Steak Sandwich with chips and chutney
Vegetarian Lasagne
Country Style Pesto Chicken Stack
Country Style Mushroom Stack

We also offer a selection of fresh salads, including warm bacon salad, falafel salad, pumpkin, chicken and quinoa-based dishes.

What You'll Do

Prepare and cook breakfast, brunch and lunch dishes to a consistently high standard
Execute menu items efficiently during busy breakfast and lunch services
Maintain consistency in flavour, portion size and presentation
Prepare ingredients and complete mise en place before service
Cook eggs, meats, vegetables, sauces, pasta, salads and other menu components
Prepare and plate dishes according to established recipes and presentation standards
Assist with seasonal specials and menu development
Monitor food quality, freshness and portion control
Maintain a clean, organised and efficient kitchen
Manage stock levels and assist with ordering
Minimise food waste through effective preparation and stock rotation
Follow food safety, hygiene and workplace health and safety requirements
Support and supervise kitchen assistants and junior staff where required
Communicate effectively with front-of-house staff during service
Assist with kitchen opening and closing procedures
Maintain a calm and professional approach during busy service periods

What We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who:

Has previous experience working as a Chef in a café, restaurant or commercial kitchen
Has strong breakfast and brunch cooking experience
Can confidently handle a busy breakfast service
Has strong knowledge of food preparation and cooking techniques
Can consistently produce high-quality dishes under pressure
Takes pride in food presentation and attention to detail
Has excellent organisational and time-management skills
Works well independently and as part of a team
Has strong communication skills and a positive attitude
Understands food safety and hygiene requirements
Is reliable, punctual and committed to maintaining high kitchen standards
Is available for early mornings, weekends and public holidays where required
Holds a Food Safety Certificate or is willing to obtain one
