We’re searching for a reliable, compassionate, and motivated support worker to join the support team of a young NDIS participant with autism and ADHD.

About The Role

Smarter Connections is seeking an experienced, reliable and engaging Support Worker to support an 11-year-old boy in Broadmeadows.

The client has Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ADHD and Intellectual Disability. He is an active young boy who enjoys soccer, playing footy, riding his bike and scooter, going to the park, swimming, Lego, animals and superhero movies.

We are looking for a male support worker who is calm, patient, energetic and confident working with children, particularly children who may experience emotional dysregulation or behaviours of concern. Experience with positive behaviour support, de-escalation and maintaining appropriate boundaries would be highly regarded.

Available to work:

Monday to Friday mornings: 7:00am–9:00am
Monday to Friday afternoons: 2:30pm–6:00pm

The afternoon shifts are focused on school pick-up and community access, including taking the client to Salvos, the park, playing footy and other social and recreational activities. The role is about getting out into the community, having fun and building independence and social skills.

Morning shifts involve supporting the client with his morning routine, getting ready for school and transitions.

About You:

We are looking for someone who can build a positive, consistent relationship with the client and become a reliable part of his support team. You’re caring, patient, dependable, respectful, and understand that great support is built on trust and consistency. You will have:

Certificate in Disability or Individual Support (preferred)
Current NDIS Worker Screening Check
Current First Aid & CPR
Current Working With Children Check (Employee)
Current driver’s licence and reliable vehicle
A solid understanding of NDIS principles, participant choice, and dignity of risk
Strong communication skills and attention to detail

Most importantly, you should have experience working with autism and ADHD, be an excellent communicator with clear English and the ability to follow structured routines and instructions.
