The City of Salisbury is seeking a motivated and experienced Leading Worker - Building Amenity to join the Building Maintenance team within City Infrastructure.
Reporting to the Coordinator Building Maintenance, you will play a key role in the day-to-day leadership and coordination of the Building Maintenance team. You will assist in planning, scheduling and delivering building maintenance services across Council facilities and assets while ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently and to required standards. Working closely with staff, contractors, volunteers and stakeholders, you will help drive service excellence and continuous improvement across the team.
Your key responsibilities will include:

Assist in coordinating and scheduling maintenance works, resources and contractors.

Support the delivery of planned and reactive maintenance programs across Council facilities and assets.

Provide day-to-day leadership, guidance and support to team members.

Supervise contractors and monitor performance against service and contractual requirements.

Conduct inspections to ensure works are completed safely and to the required standards.

Assist with workforce planning and coordination to meet service delivery objectives.

Support the development and review of work instructions, procedures and safe work practices.

Provide technical advice and support relating to building maintenance activities.

Maintain accurate records of labour, materials, equipment and maintenance activities.

Respond to customer enquiries and support positive community outcomes.

Promote a culture of safety, accountability, teamwork and continuous improvement.
About you:
You are an experienced building maintenance professional who enjoys leading and supporting teams to achieve quality outcomes. You have strong organisational and coordination skills, can effectively manage competing priorities and are confident working with staff, contractors and stakeholders. You lead by example, take ownership of your work and are committed to delivering high-quality customer service and safe work practices.
You will also have:

Trade qualification in Painting and Decorating, or significant relevant industry experience.

Demonstrated experience in building maintenance and service delivery environments.

Proven ability to organise, coordinate, influence and motivate staff.

Strong leadership, communication and interpersonal skills.
-
Experience coordinating maintenance programs, contractors and work schedules.

Ability to interpret plans, specifications and technical documentation.
-
Experience using asset management systems and Microsoft Office applications.
-
Strong planning, problem-solving and organisational skills.
-
Ability to use initiative and make sound operational decisions.
-
Current Class C Driver's Licence.

Certificate IV in Leadership and Management or equivalent qualification (desirable).

Experience managing service contracts and contractor performance (desirable).
-
Experience working within Local Government or a similar service delivery environment (desirable).
