Medical Receptionist – Full-Time or Part-Time

Join Our Growing Family Doctors Plus Team!

Family Doctors Plus is a busy, vibrant and growing GP practice looking for a friendly, enthusiastic and reliable Medical Receptionist to join our team.

Previous medical reception experience is not essential. We are happy to train the right person who has a great attitude, is eager to learn and enjoys working with people.

About the Role

Working as part of our reception team, you will be responsible for providing a welcoming and professional experience for our patients while supporting the day-to-day operation of the practice.

Your duties will include:

Answering and managing incoming phone calls
Booking and managing patient appointments
Greeting and assisting patients
Processing patient billing and Medicare rebates
Processing referrals and other medical correspondence
Responding to patient enquiries
Checking and managing appointment books
Liaising with doctors, nurses and allied health professionals
General reception and administrative duties
Maintaining patient confidentiality and privacy

Most importantly, we are looking for the right person and the right attitude.

You will ideally:

Have excellent customer service skills and a friendly, professional phone manner
Enjoy working with people and helping patients
Have high attention to detail
Be organised and able to prioritise multiple tasks
Enjoy working in a busy, fast-paced environment
Be able to remain calm and professional when things get busy
Be reliable, punctual and willing to learn
Be confident using computers and learning new systems
Be able to work independently while also being a strong team player
Understand the importance of confidentiality and privacy
Be empathetic and understanding towards patients
Be flexible and adaptable – no two days in general practice are the same!

Experience

Medical reception experience is not essential.

Previous experience in medical administration, reception, healthcare, customer service or administration will be highly regarded.

Experience with Best Practice (BP), Medicare and health fund billing is advantageous, but training will be provided for the right applicant.

Availability & Flexibility

Our practice operates across extended hours, so flexibility is essential.

You must be comfortable and willing to work a variety of rostered shifts, including opening and closing shifts.

Our practice hours are:

Monday–Thursday: 6:30am – 6:30pm
Friday: 6:30am – 6:00pm
Saturday & Sunday: 8:30am – 1:30pm

Opening, closing and weekend shifts may be required as part of the roster.
