About the Role
This is an opportunity to build more than internal systems and work through support tickets.
As an Analyst / Developer, you will help design and deliver digital products used by residents, businesses and Council employees across the Sunshine Coast.
You could work across customer-facing websites and mobile applications, online services, payments, business platforms, automation, AI-enabled solutions and integrations connecting critical Council systems.
Our Development and Integration team has delivered products including the Sunshine Coast Council app, MyCouncil, Tibro, customer service platforms, public websites and major system integrations.
You will work directly with stakeholders to understand complex problems, shape practical solutions and take them from initial design through to production.
Depending on the project, you may work with:
- C# and modern .NET
- Microsoft Azure
- REST APIs and system integrations
- React and TypeScript
- Mobile and web applications
- CI/CD pipelines and automated testing
- SQL and data integration
- Message-based and event-driven architecture
- AI-assisted development and automation
At Level 6, you will also provide technical leadership, contribute to solution design, mentor developers and help strengthen engineering practices across the team.
Key responsibilities
- Design, develop, test and maintain secure applications and system integrations
- Translate business problems into scalable and maintainable technical solutions
- Develop APIs connecting cloud, on-premises and third-party platforms
- Work directly with stakeholders, developers and technology specialists
- Contribute to architecture, technical evaluations and technology decisions
- Participate in code reviews and improve development standards
- Diagnose complex technical issues and improve application reliability
- Mentor team members and share knowledge across the development team
- Explore emerging technologies where they can deliver meaningful value
This position is based at Sunshine Coast City Hall , in the heart of Maroochydore CBD. This state of the art and sustainable building is designed to achieve an innovative and collaborative workspace.
About you
You are a capable software professional who enjoys solving difficult problems and building useful products.
You have strong experience in C#, .NET and API development, with a focus on secure, maintainable and high-quality software.
Experience in several of the following areas will be highly regarded:
- Microsoft Azure
- React or TypeScript
- Azure DevOps and CI/CD
- Automated testing
- Message brokers or event-driven systems
- Entity Framework or other ORM technologies
- SQL Server and data integration
- Mobile application development
- Cloud security and identity
- AI-enabled applications or development tools
You communicate well with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, contribute ideas and enjoy working in a team that values collaboration, continuous improvement and knowledge sharing.
You do not need to know every technology we use. Strong fundamentals, curiosity, sound judgement and a willingness to learn are just as important.
