About the Role

As the Payroll Supervisor, you will oversee the day-to-day payroll operations for a portfolio of small and medium-sized business (SME) clients. You will lead and support a team, ensuring payrolls are processed accurately, on time, and in accordance with legislative requirements.

You will play a key role in reviewing the work of payroll team members, providing guidance, ensuring quality standards are met, and supporting their ongoing development.

Key Responsibilities

Supervise the end-to-end payroll processing for a portfolio of SME clients with payrolls of up to 50 employees.
Review and quality check payroll work completed by payroll team members to ensure accuracy and compliance.
Provide guidance, coaching and technical support to team members, assisting with team development and performance.
Allocate payroll workloads and monitor deadlines to ensure all client payrolls are completed on schedule.
Ensure compliance with relevant payroll legislation, including Fair Work requirements, superannuation, PAYG withholding, Single Touch Payroll (STP), payroll tax and leave entitlements.

About You

7 years' payroll experience, ideally from within an accounting firm
Experience managing payroll for multiple clients (bookkeeping experience is highly regarded
Demonstrated experience reviewing the payroll process
Proficiency using Xero and Employment HR payroll software
Strong knowledge of Australian payroll legislation and compliance requirements
Excellent attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
Strong organisational and time management skills with the ability to manage competing deadlines.
Excellent communication and client relationship management skills.
Advanced level of Excel proficiency
