About the Role
As the
Payroll Supervisor, you will oversee the day-to-day payroll operations for a portfolio of small and medium-sized business (SME) clients. You will lead and support a team, ensuring payrolls are processed accurately, on time, and in accordance with legislative requirements.
You will play a key role in reviewing the work of payroll team members, providing guidance, ensuring quality standards are met, and supporting their ongoing development.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise the end-to-end payroll processing for a portfolio of SME clients with payrolls of up to 50 employees.
- Review and quality check payroll work completed by payroll team members to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Provide guidance, coaching and technical support to team members, assisting with team development and performance.
- Allocate payroll workloads and monitor deadlines to ensure all client payrolls are completed on schedule.
- Ensure compliance with relevant payroll legislation, including Fair Work requirements, superannuation, PAYG withholding, Single Touch Payroll (STP), payroll tax and leave entitlements.
About You
- 7 years' payroll experience, ideally from within an accounting firm
- Experience managing payroll for multiple clients (bookkeeping experience is highly regarded
- Demonstrated experience reviewing the payroll process
- Proficiency using Xero and Employment HR payroll software
- Strong knowledge of Australian payroll legislation and compliance requirements
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Strong organisational and time management skills with the ability to manage competing deadlines.
- Excellent communication and client relationship management skills.
- Advanced level of Excel proficiency
